Does any of your film camera have automatic metering?

Sorry I'm noob regarding Pentax film camera but I know I suck at manual metering.

@davex, @Unlocker: I took the pic through 2 layers of glass (from inside a building) so contrast was horribly low and the lighting was "fuzzy". So had to increase contrast and vibrancy drastically in post. The blurring effect was artificial, of course. I don't remember how exactly I did it though - in term of sliders and numbers. A lot of trial and error (and Ctrl-Alt-Z)

@SmutjeUK: I didn't like it at first too. But somehow the toy camera color (without the toy camera softness) makes it look kinda interesting.

@cardiff_gareth: thanks.

@Smeggypants: thanks. It's funny I was told not to take picture by a security guard at Canary Wharf a while back and then I pointed out to her that 2 other tourists were taking pictures with their camera phone. She then went on about how "different" camera phone is to mine. It was hilarious.

@Pentaxophile: yup, I love this lens.

@womble: I attempted monochrome with that one too but it didn't look quite right yet.

@PentaxExpert: This forum thread is for you.

Hope the photos below will at least sway you away from your misguided viewpoint that good flower and bug photos can only be done with expensive equipments.

These were done with a £59.00 kit lens. Yes, it doesn't even break 100 quids.

Actually, you don't even need a DSLR.
So no, mate. It's never about the camera and lenses.

For every photo session, I always try to use only 1 lens (unless if it rains then the WR kit comes to the rescue). It's just a nice bonding experience (which helps with my LBA). It's even nicer with the 35mm limited whose versatility is just wonderful.

Let's start with my favourite of the entire series and what the 35mm is designed for - macro...

This lens has successfully replaced my old favourite on MFT (the Panny 20mm f1.7) and then some (macro!). And coincidentally, the cost of both are exactly the same (of course without discounting time value for money which may be complicated by the volatile inflation we are going through - ok, I digressed). But ya, it's a great lens!

I'm using 7dayshop 32GB card. It's working fine so far.

Does anyone know if my understanding is correct or not :

My understanding of the K-5 highlight protection is:

Let's say you have it on and set ISO 200. The camera actually will take pic underexposed at ISO 100 and then boost it up 1 EV. In other words, the camera measures like it's in ISO 200 but take pictures with same shutter speed and aperture but with actual sensitivity of ISO 100. So effectively you have 1 extra EV of highlight to save at the expense of 1 EV of shadow.

That means you effectively don't "lose" any DR. You simply shift the DR from shadow to highlight. Considering the K-5 has only about 2 stops of highlight room and very little shadow noise, it is actually a good thing to turn highlight protection on (unless you really need ISO 80 - low shutter speed landscape, for example).

As a result, the only factors to decide whether to use the functionality is
1. Processing time. How much does it really slow down displaying of preview?
2. The need of slow shutter speed in certain situations.

Is my understanding correct? I plan to turn highlight protection on permanently, unless I'm doing slow shutter landscape work.
