Very striking ! Love the texture and colours in the foreground and then you suddenly spot the very dark conifer [ ?] directing your attention to the ploughed field beyond .

According to the Ricoh-Pentax website that should be an RH-RA5

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/products/lens/k/telephoto/smcpentax-da50/

The Japanese webstore has them!
That's odd -' cos when I got the actual products catalogue from Pentax Ricoh uk site it gives it as the SMC DA 50mm f1.8 and if you scroll very carefully down lens hood is marked as RH-RA52.

Clearly you pays your money and you takes your choice .

My problem is solved .

I was warned to be careful with hoods for the Pentax 50mm some are 49mm filters - others aren't. I needed a hood for the 52 mm filter size.

Since I'm not in a desperate rush - I'll be picking it up in the USA when I'm over - a B+W rubber hood Not quite as cheap as some of the ones on E-bay - but it's still very cheap compared with prices over here.

Have to admit though - with the cost of shipping etc I would not have dreamt of getting it from the USA normally - but since I'll be over - well .......

OK story first - I'm trying to sort out my camera stuff .

Bought the Pentax DA 50 F l1.8 a short time ago to accompany the little 35mm plastic lens

Coming later this year is the 18-135 WR

Right = thanks to Gartmore I now have a nice little metal hood for the 35mm and I'm looking for a hood for the 50mm - Pentax say it should be the RH-RA52 - BUT can't find one

Does anyone have a surplus to requirements screw on hood for my lovely little 50mm ?

I do not argue about price if it's what I want and need - well- not as long as I can afford it

the wee soft leather[or leather like ] drawstring bag - like the one I bought from AndrewA

I need another ! for either my 35mm or 50mm lens.

I have very little spare room in my Event messenger Bag and I don't like my lenses rattling about !

I've tried a neoprene pouch , but even the smallest one [ of a set of 4 ] is just too big and not as soft as I would like.

Does anyone have a pre-loved one for sale ?

I'm heading to the USA from Dublin - and we go through all procedures actually in Dublin

Coming back from JFK may be a bit more stressful

Not sure how bad it's going to be - I can't walk the distances at airports so I'm on 'mobility assistance' and am transported through the airports by wheel chair.

You sound as if you are going to have a fabulous trip - hope you get plenty of Pics

shouldn't be - after all you will have to take that [ the laptop] out of your bag to go through the scanner and it's properly and safely connected in the computer.

Do you have a grip attached to your K5 - if so you can put your second battery in that all the time - and it's terminals/contact points are then protected.

With this trip i'm doing at the end of next week I'll have the K30 and iPad in my camera case [ along with all the usual stuff including the spare battery in its Think Tank pouch,
plus a smallish carry on bag with the Lappy and the stand I have for that , plus things like mobile phones [ one is no longer used as a phone but as an alarm clock as it flashes a light which wakes me ] my iTouch and my Kindle

All chargers , adaptors [ not for this trip but needed when I go to the US in June] and a 4 socket Surge protected extension block go in the case in the hold.

Actual security screening does seem to vary - I prep for the most secure - no belts and make sure that all electronic stuff can be got at easily as they go through security on their own and you then have to stuff them back into your carry on or pockets once through. Even my walking stick has to go through the blasted machine.

1) have fully charged battery in the K5
2) fully charge your spare battery and then put the Charger in your case that's going in the hold
3) take your spare battery and put it in a close fitting bag [ or plastic box NOT a metal one ] make sure that if it's a bag the contact end goes in first .
4) make sure that spare battery is not rolling around - pack with bubble pack if necessary ]

Put that box/bag in your carry on bag or in your camera case.

That should do it.

That's more or less how I do it with my K-30 . My spare battery goes contact end first in
link

and then goes in one of the pockets in the front pocket of my LowePro Event messenger bag.

I've already flown twice this year using that method
