Im sure your correct Father Ted, I was just pointing out that Exif data shouldnt be relied on to feel secure about it. I think Exif data is really for honest people who come across your picture and wish to use it and then have all your contact details so they can approach you to buy the photograph.

The camera can rarely capture what the eye sees without some sort of manipulation, the sensors / film can only distinguish about 5 stops of light (correct me if Im talking rubbish)so therefore some way of stopping a shot becoming too contrasty may need to be done in certain shots. This may mean using ND Grads to darken the sky, or it may be done in Lightroom/photoshop. The end result is very similar.

Likewise a shot may just appear flat and pretty boring, but thats not what you saw when you took the shot, so a small adjustment of levels and adjusting the shadow detail will help to give a better photograph.

I am just a beginer at this but I have included an example, not that I am any good at this and the shot is not so good, but the first pic is straight out of the box, the second i have tweaked about with the exposure, blacks, clarity etc and to my mind the image is a bit more how I want it. Although its a throw away picture. Not saying my work is any good, just that small use of PS or LR can enhance an image. In my opinion of course

ttk sorry I have confused you, nothing to do with the remote settings I was just using that as an example of the problem I was having with the metering timer.

PS.. Have you put your remote in it's holder in battery grip
Whats a battery grip? Errm no I don't have one so far I find the battery life pretty good, may get one eventually though but it does make the whole thing a bit big

Hefty, Nail on Head Thanks yes its the same on the K20d and thats sorted it.

This is one good reason for using RAW Files and making sure your EXIF Data is intact and up to date..
Yes but surely Exif data can be altered, or deleted completely?

Hefty
Thanks for the in depth explanation.
Howver Im not sure Im quite with you, are you not referring to Multiple exposure mode? All extended appears to do to me is give slight variation over several exposures in WB or contrast or hue etc.

Or maybe Im just confused

Im not sure if that's what Im looking for though Tel, Auto Power off has a minimum of 1 minute. But when using the infra red remote it seemed to be inoperable after much shorter than 1 minute and seems about the time that the exposure reading dissapears off the lcd screen.
Of course I could have been mistaken.

Unfortunately I have lost my IR and cant test it right now.

Wasn't sure what to call this thread as Im not sure of the name of the feature.
However, I get slightly annoyed that whe the lcd display swithches off after a few seconds nothing on the camera works unless I half press again. I find this a nuisance when I am finally ready to take a shot, all composed and then nothing works. Is there any way the time taken until this happens can be extended?

Okay, I sort of know what this does on my K20d but not really seen any great explanations of it. When I first heard of it I assumed it was pseudo HDR which blended 3 exposures, however looking through the menu, the choices WB, Saturation, Hue, Contrast and Sharpness.
Could anyone explain exactly how you would use this feature?

Thanks
