I tried this product as an earlier edition. On the strength of its capabilities, I bought DXO Optics Pro (Elite Edition), which incorporates Filmpack 4, Viewpoint 2 (great for sorting out converging verticals!), and Optics Pro itself, which is great for improving the overall quality of my images.

I use Triggertrap on my K-30, but it's a "wired" remote. Tomorrow, GHA are demolishing the Red Road Flats here in Glasgow, so I'll give this (and Triggertrap) a go, to see which fares best. Thanks for the heads-up!!

Thanks Andy and Steve for your comments/info. I've bookmarked that link for future reference.

What I can't quite understand is the apparent secrecy about this info..almost as though the consumer shouldn't be allowed the information. Why not make it easy for anyone to access this info on an official government site rather than have to rely on third party sites which may or may not be up to date. It could prove an expensive mistake if you get it wrong.

I have the official link to the hmrc website, but it is for businesses only, most likely due to the fact that it is quite difficult for the novice to comprehend. Likewise, the IATA/ICAO Dangerous Goods By Air guidebook.

If any member needs info on import duty on anything, just PM me, and I'll do my best to help.

1stEverPentax - I used to work for a courier company near Heathrow, but I'm now back in Scotland, and no longer in the same line of work. I did make a point of taking note of my last employers' login info for the HMRC website, but I tend not to disclose these details in case it causes problems for that company.

If anybody asks me specific questions relating to imports, I can login and check, then post the replies.

On checking the Chapter Heading for lenses, it looks as though 6.7% is the "standard" rate of import duty. As far as I can see from the footnotes for CH.90 02, there are no preferential rates in place for the countries you mentioned.

QC - import tax depends on the focal length of the lens. Based on the assumption that the lens is described as "Lens unit: having a focal length of 25 mm or more but not more than 150 mm,- consisting of glass or plastic lenses, with a diameter of 60 mm or more but not more than 190 mm", this should be categorized with the HMRC Tariff heading of 900211 00 50. Under this tariff, the import duty is levied at 6.7%. VAT is charged at standard rate, and expect to be charged an import admin fee of between £20-£30 on top. If you are importing via a reputable courier company, they most will most likely pre-clear it, and deliver to your door. Whoever the Japanese send it with, call the local office nearest to you and ask to speak to someone in the imports department. They should be able to advise what the likely add-on fees will be.

It's a cultural thing, David. Last November, my mother-in-law passed away (I should point out that my wife's from Thailand), and my wife and I went over for the funeral. Their ritual is basically a series of prayers for at least 5 days at the local temple. Although not unlike a "western" funeral in the actual mourning process, the Thais perceive death as being ready to "move on" to the next phase of incarnation. Although I thought it was a bit "disrespectful" for the relatives to take "selfies" beside the coffin, etc I realised that this is done as a way to "celebrate" the deceased's sad passing.

Read about it here: http://www.thaibuddhist.com/what-to-expect-if-you-are-invited-to-a-thai-funeral/

This is actually a link on the PetaPixel website, which leads to another website called CLICKITTYCAT.COM. The cartoons on this link relates to (often dumb!) questions asked of staff in a camera shop in Ventura, California. Have a wee look, and see if it tickles your ribs as much as it did mine!!

8/8.1 are a total nightmare for me!! I'm hoping 10 is a vast improvement!! Just a pity that, since Vista, I'm unable to use my Sony Minidisc player on the pc, as I archived some photos onto a Hi-MD, and I cannot make music MD's to listen to when out and about. If I can save the pennies up, I'll get one of Sony's MP4 players. As for Win 10, I'll be upgrading, rather than spending a few hundred quid on a new rig.

Could be that the actual problem is that the file type is corrupted. Try right-clicking one of the files, and if you are offered up a dialog box which says something along the lines of "OPEN WITH", try opening with MS PAINT. If it opens the file, click FILE/SAVE/SAVE AS and save as a JPG/JPEG file. I'm guessing that you will have lost the metadata contained within the files that allows them to open as RAW files. Let me know how you get on.
