But, but, you can't do fast action sports with Pentax
Great shots, loving the Scooby with the glowing brakes, and of course the crashes, we all like a good crash.

So, do we still think Pentax can't do sport? If this is what I can get from Karting I think a football match or indeed any sport where the participants are using human power to propel themselves should be achievable

All jpegs pretty much straight out of the camera, a bit of cropping and straightening I think is all I did.
This was the best set I have ever produced at the track and it was, at the same time, the first set ever with the 50-135. I was in Scotland and missed the September meeting, and by the time October came round my 5iis was in hospital and I had to use the K-5 I had on loan from SRS and those shots were not inspiring at all (that'll probably light the blue touch paper). Sadly the lens got water damaged at the October meeting and is now dead. I bought it very cheap on eBay because the AF wasn't working, but when it arrived with me the AF was working fine (but not on the K-7, possibly a power boost thing on the iis, I don't know). I'm disappointed it was working as I would have definitely sent it away to be repaired and serviced had it arrived and not functioned. Anyway, I have claimed on the insurance and a replacement is on its way so I will be reunited with the best lens I have ever had the pleasure to use.

I don't think any mixture of Canon or Nikon kit is going to better these. This was the first meeting I had the chance to use this combo and frankly I was staggered! Pentax can do sports! Nuff Said
If this pairing can keep up with these guys then ball games will be easy.

That's better, the first is definitely out of focus, however the second is perfectly acceptable. You are shooting into a dark area and so your light is going to be reduced and this will likely affect your shutter speed. Don't expect every shot to be perfect there are always going to be missed shots. If this is a regular place to visit and you spend a long time there then use manual focus once you've got the focus close enough using the AF.
And above all practice, practice, practice and try to get closer they are after all very small targets.

What is it?

You have some strange bugs down there! Glad you are an island and keep them to yourselves.
It's a weevil, they are very common in the northern hemisphere too

Interesting, I didn't realise that. Note to self ... Don't bother looking for a M42 500mm f4.5

Try enabling Catch In Focus, put the camera to AF.S and turn the focus ring slowly towards focus while holding the shutter button down, when focus is achieved it will automatically fire. Only Pentax do this and it's a boon.

K-3 hands down, you will need the AF capabilities, if the critter is in dark woods you may not get a good shot or heaven forbid a little grain/noise but hey ho there are applications that will deal with that.
