Interesting settings Chris. I went for f5.6 and 1/1000th on TAV so most shots kept the ISO well down. The 1/1000th also allowed just a tiny bit of wingtip blur too in some shots. I like yours but there appears to be a tad of burned highlights, but the sun looks like it was higher for yours so well handled in the circumstances.

Perhaps the birds flew more slowly as they knew the photographer was using Pentax kit?

Or perhaps they could not hear the shutter from the camera so were more relaxed?

some great images Steve.
If you look, most of them are looking directly at me trying to make out the name on the front of the camera as they'd never seen it before.
Oddly though, there were only a few toggers there and one of the others was looking quizzically towards my camera as we were walking back to the car park and mentioned he was a Pentax shooter himself, he had a K-5 mk1 and a Siggy 50-500.

Have you cloned the wires out Steve

Nice shots - where were these taken: It doesn't look like Gigrin Farm, Rhyader to me but I could be wrong
Hi Stuey,
Deffo taken at Gigryn, I was in hide number 4 with a (Canon) friend and another couple who only had binoculars. And no cloning out of wires, I don't remember seeing any tbh.

Not too shabby (although might be a bit too much sharpening on No.5)

Mind you - at a recent club comp one of the members had one much like No.3 and was criticised by the judge for having "too much blue" in the shot!

Phil
Hi swarf, all the shots had ecactly the same amount of sharpening i.e. none, if there was any it would have been applied automatically by software because I haven't added any. There is no need to sharpen with a K-5iis

There will not be a mega pixel race in the future
We will have graphene sensors that are 1000x more sensitive to light than current sensors and will take shots in the dark that will look like they have been taken in daylight.

Steve, once again these are excellent. There are no issues with the focus on the K-5II variants, maybe they don't have the tracking finesse, but they are fast and accurate, depending on the lens used. K-3 improves on this and has tracking too! I've used my K-3 for the first time today with wild birds and it is unerringly accurate (with Siggy 150-500).

I will probably grab hold of one come April, bonus time
Although I am willing to sell my children for one

Llandow Kart Club run their meetings at South Wales Karting Centre at Llandow in the Vale of Glamorgan, it is local to me. I am sort of the official togger for the club so shoot every meeting.
