All a little grainy as the lighting was as problematic as ever and I tend to shoot this kind of subject with fixed shutter speed (1/1000) and aperture (in this case F5.6) Auto iso selected by the camera at 2500.
These are all substantial crops as well
All shots on Pentax K-3iii and Pentax 150-450mm

2. Lining up for delivery

3. Success

Seriously good, so well captured. All the positive comments well deserved.
The first of the two illustrates perfectly "Less is more" and "negative space"

The crypt and exterior images all look like the same period whereas the interior, with the crisp lines in the masonry does look like it came from a later build .
Certainly well worth your stop at Ahun

I do like the SMC Pentax-FA 645 400mm F5.6 ED [IF] and you have put it to brilliant use!

I honestly think it's over for the potential of a new K1 iii.
I thought maybe six months ago or more, of it being brought to the fore by Pentax with hints, but it is over as far I can see, hence no new FF lens development also.
The wonderful superb dinosaur will be extinct, sooner than one realises when the final few run out.
The K3 iii (monochrome) is their final Swan song as far as DSLR development is concerned by Pentax.
Youngsters have different appetites and the penny has dropped.
Ricoh however will continue with their GR compact camera enhancements and maybe interchangeable lens mirrorless versions for the future.
The K (PKA) mount is doomed to the annals of history.
Sorry for the gloom SSF1957
I have dabbled with Sony and Olympus and now have some of the latest Canon tech, but I still keep reaching for my Pentax kit as a choice not just muscle memory

I have been watching a Pentax FA 600mm F4 and a Pentax DA 560mm F5.6. Prices for both are similar and would no doubt require me to sell other kit to finance it, so I need to make a good decision!
I understand that the 600mm is a full frame lens and a stop faster (and heavier!) while the 560mm is lighter, dedicated for APSC and has Pentax weather sealing. Do any of you have experience of these lenses? How do you feel about them both in terms of handling and optical performance?
I predominantly use the K-3iii with my longer lenses but live in hope (rather than expectation) of an update to the K-1ii
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Location is Wirksworth station at the north end of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway as we prepare for this weekends 1940's event. I am not on the footplate this weekend but have been charged with taking some suitable photos for turning into jigsaws for our shop - not the ones here, they want them in steam hauling passenger stock
Webb Coal Tank - one of our visiting locos
The Duke, first outing of the year after an overhaul
Moorbarrow, a long term visitor which has done most of the heavy lifting so far this year
Another visitor (just for this weekend) - affectionately nicknamed "Kermit" (can't think why) A Kerr Stuart 0-4-0 industrial loco built in Stoke circa 1928
