I've just discovered that I cannot use my flash (Metz 5 in wireless mode when using my K10 in aperture ring mode, the options are greyed out in the camera flash menu.
Does anyone know of a way around this or why it can't be done? Surely the camera can tell the flash when it's produced enough light without having to tell it what aperture it's using?
I'm trying to use a SMC Pentax-M 1.7 50mm

Thanks Andy, I did have a grip attached, I don't think I checked the dials on the grip so that could well have been it.

I was shooting a friends wedding last month when my K10 decided it knew best and wasn't going to listen to me when I wanted to change aperture, shutter speed or ISO; less than convenient and not easy to hide from the bride when shooting her portraits!
I had a backup Ist DS but after a while it started playing properly but it's not something I'd like to repeat.
Has anyone had this or similar trouble? If so was there and easy fix? (and cheaper than selling it to buy a K7!)

I've had this trouble with my K10, I put the new screen in this morning and wondered why everything was under-exposed, I've put the original screen back in and it's back to exposing correctly.
I've only just bought the flash (Metz 58 ) so haven't really looked into a solution yet, I guess it could be compensated for manually but that somewhat negates buying a dedicated flash doesn't it.

Just ordered one from SRS!

After searching for the flash that I want and settling on the Metz 58 I found it at Camera World for £249 link I'm not sure what the postage is as I live close enough to collect from store.
Considerably cheaper than warehouse express (£289) but not much of a saving from SRS at £255

I've (unfortunately) been asked to photograph a wedding for a friend of a friend, I have a K10 and an Ist DS, I'm considering using them both but can't decide which lens would be best on each camera, I have both 50-135 and 16-45.
Presumably I'll get better quality shots from the K10 so the 16-45 may be better suited for the "tripod" shots (posed) and the 50-135 on the Ist DS for candid images.

Any thoughts?
