Hmm, I've just had a look on the great "Bay" and found the 50-500 for £580 would you recommend this over the 100-300 f4?

Does anybody know of or has anyone any experience of lens rental? I'm planning a trip to Africa next year and can't really afford a fast telephoto for the wildlife shots I'm anticipating and a teleconverter on my Sigma 70-300 would slow it down to much...
Any thoughts?

still being relatively new and un-informed, what are the advantages of spending a lot on the Pentax 16 -50 (or 45) F2.8 for landscapes when most landscapes are shot at a higher F number for increased DoF? Is it simply because higher quality glass has a lower f stop anyway so it's the quality and not necessarily the larger aperture that is desired?

Has anybody had any issues with a 50mm Pentax SMC FA 1.7 autofocus lens no longer functioning as an autofocus? It worked when I first bought it (ebay) but now it isn't recognised as being an autofocus lens or having an 'A' setting on the aperture ring.
I've tried it on my K10 and ist DS and it's the same on both...

A couple of shots I took of this lens to advertise it on the bay. Taken with the newly bought Pentax SMC FA 50mm... just prior to it giving up on it's autofocus duties!!

Matt, I've set up my LCD monitor as per your advice using WiziWYG the however the mouse pointer stands out as a gleaming white against any other "white" background which appear a more brown/ grey colour, should I tweak the settings to get the whites to match?
