Thanks for the feedback - I'll tweak the lighthouse a little

I've tried a few other photos but it's pretty obvious already that HDR certainly doesn't suit everything, I'm beginning to think that it might just give my photography a little more variation though when used carefully and with the right image

Normally I'm very much in the "natural" camp when it comes to landscape photography but I'm always willing to give something a try so thought I'd have a go at HDR - this is the first time I've tried it, processed in Photomatix

I've just made my own "stealth" messenger bag using non-brand messenger bag and a Tenba insert from here, excellent insert:

ok - having had a look through the manual I can be a bit more specific with my questions...

Slow shutter speed noise reduction - do you now turn NR off or still keep it set?

High Iso noise reduction- I've read that this may affect RAW output? Either way, which settings do you use?

HDR capture- something I've never really looked at but wondered if anyone uses it on the K5?

Lens correction- I currently use PTlens in photoshop but maybe as it's designed by Pentax this is more effective, anyone compared both?

Thanks

But if you shoot RAW those settings don't effect the actually image so the only reason why you should brother is so the preview on the camera match the actually RAW image better because the camera use the JPG file in the RAW as the preview.
I thought that some settings, noise reduction for example, were actually applied to the raw file - I'm just working my way through the manual anyway

thanks

Having just ordered a K5 from SRS I'm keen to get up & running with it asap. Having owned the K20D I'm guessing many settings etc will be unchanged but I just wondered if there were any useful setup tips anyone could pass on - particularly relating to Dynamic range/custom noise reduction?

I've trawled through 15 pages of the forum without finding anything much so perhaps it's all pretty straighforward?

thanks

I'm considering attending one of the photography workshops run by Joe Cornish (http://www.joecornish.com/workshop/workshops.asp) and wondered if anyone had been on one? - whilst I'm looking to pick up a few expert tips on landscapes I'm even more interested in improving my Photoshop skills. I know there's loads of Photoshop training available but I want something specifically aimed at landscape photography.

I'd appreciate any feedback

Thanks

Unfortunately I don't think anything exists that meets your needs - the compartments for clothes etc in "combination" backpacks just seem too small to be completely useful - I have a Tamrac currently having also tried Lowepro.

When I'm hiking I use a standard hiking backpack and place a holster type bag inside with my K20D - I carry additional lenses inside too in Lowepro lens cases. Dedicated hiking backpacks also have much better "back systems" so allow you to carry the load with less effort.

This is my expereince anyway
