I've recently bought a sigma 1.4 teleconverter to use with my sigma 120-400 lens (which said it was compatible)only to find there is no 'locking pin' to keep the lens fitted securely to the teleconverter, which given the weight of the lens is a huge problem. has anyone else noticed this problem?

Has anyone come across a decent 360 rotating right angle viewfinder. I've got a K10D with no live preview and getting down to focus on some of my shots is now proving to be a problem now an old back injury has flared up.

Thanks

For my K10D

.....Now I have knackered my back carrying too much kit everywhere I'd like Pentax to make a high quality rotating/right angle view finder so I don't have to bend down so much!

I'm hoping that Pentax are looking at all your suggestions so that by the time I upgrade the next model will be comprehensive ! I've been thinking about the K7 but wondered if it was worth waiting for what ever replaces it.....how much longer will we need to wait?

Much better to organise your bag for the shoot and carry less and save £80 or spend it on some more kit, or even a better bag that you can access more readily

I looked into a vest of sorts and also deceided it would be too akward, esspecially if you need to crouch or lie down to get that shot.

The best way to see the effect of the shallow depth of field and to learn this is to take a series of shots, but to do this you'll need a tripod or something to keep the camera steady, so putting it on a table would be fine for this if you don't have a tripod.

Set the camera to aperture priority and select a wide aperture F2.8 (or as wide as your lens will permit if it will not go to F2.8 and judging by the lenses on your post they may not be F2.8, probably f3.5 on the 18-55) manually focus on object and take a photo.

Then change only the aperture to f11 and take another and keep going up the highest f number of your lens. Review the images and you will see more of the background behind the object you focused on coming into focus.

I think you are doing the right thing by learning, but you need to experiment. I spent a year on 'green' mode and I wished I'd learnt more earlier!

I hope this helps, good luck and keep us up to date with how your course is going!

Try mifsuds, I bought my 50mm f2.0 for £37 6 months ago and they often have good quality second hand kit in the used section, always worth ringing or checking the mifsuds advert in the main DSLR camera mags.

their store is like an aladdins cave!

theres a 50mm F1.7 listed now for £49
