My shutter stuck open today, what was intended to be a 1/125th shot ended up around 6 hours. It finally shut spontaneously, and then after a number of test shots that worked well it stuck open again. Any comments other than this is why people prefer mechanical shutters? Thanks.

Yes, I'd be curious about the lens serial numbers as well.

Yes you are right, they are metal. For whatever reason the grey colour made me assume plastic. Thanks guys, I have the service manual so I should have checked that.

I noticed that just inside the lens mount on my K2 there are a set of plastic threads. Does anyone know what they are for? I am not confusing this with an adaptor, this is part of the body itself. I'm assuming they are too small and wimpy to be a lens mount but they must be there for a reason, right?

You would use a neutral density filter and (ideally) the slowest film you can find and the smallest aperature possible. Having said that, this will only account for a few stop's difference so it is unlikely that you will be able to take a 10-second picture at noon on a sunny day for example (at least with readily available equipment).

Hi everybody, first post but I've been reading for some time. I have a question, I have read many times here and elsewhere that the K lenses are basically identical to the SMC Takumars but with the K-mount. From what I could find, though, out of the normal and wide lenses, none of the SMC Tak's share a filter size with the K lenses. Am I wrong or are the optics shared while the bodies are different?

I came about this as I am trying to find a lens shade for my K 28/3.5, apparently the only one that will fit is the one that was made for those couple of years specifically for the K, before and after are 49mm threads.
