Finally I've been able to test my newest acquisition and I must say it's bombastic! It works like Swiss clock And the battery grip, what a joy to use. The 16-45 lens is superb - so in a word, all the best

There are two or three things I'd like to ask:

-when I was shooting with the M lens (100mm f/4 macro) the strange thing happened. I had the camera in aperture priority mode and the camera was shooting with 1/1500s this particularly scene at ISO 200. When I change the setting to manual the camera let me shoot at 1/45s. Why?

-why the exposure meter bars does not show on the right side in view finder when shooting in M (manual) setting? It's a bit disturbing...

-otherwise I have no problems with it and I must say that *ist D + battery grip + 16-45 lens IS a PRO camera for those who doesn't shoot sports or very fast action. It seems that the image quality is good so: no complaint from my side

I'd like to ask one more thing: In your opinion, what would be the best program for post processing the photographs?

Thanks...

Regards - Saso

I see thinks pretty much like George. On Wednesday, 2. November '05 I went with my daughter on the mountain caled Razor (in Slovenia) 1570m high. Before we went I was try to figured out which camera, SLR, to take with me. I wasn't sure what contition could I expect up there so I decide to take my super A & SMC A 35-70 with me. The camera and lens gives me complete satisfaction on the field. If I would know the contitions on the mountain in advance and still be limited with equipment I would go for:
1.- *ist D + 16-45 + grip
2.- Z-1 + Zeiss 28-80 or smc A 50 f/1.7
3.- super A + 35-70 or A 50 or M 100 macro...

In case of taking 50 or 100mm lens I would take 2X teleconvertor too.

Bye, till next time - Regards Saso

This is very interesting reading... In fact this Zeiss thing totally confused me when I bought my first Pentax camera, SF7 with Carl Zeiss Jena lens. To be precise the lens is: CARL ZEISS JENA, 28-70 f/3.5-4.5 MC MACRO JENAZOOM SUPER. It's AF lens with serial no. 3133004. On the side of the lens is the sign: Lens made in Japan under licence from VEB Carl Zeiss Jena. It has a life time warranty but here comes the puzzle. Where could I claim this warranty if the lens break up? I was searching the internet for the answers and contacted (unsuccessfully) some factories for the information about the lens. In short - zero. Does anybody have an idea where to claim the warranty if I need it??? :

Thanks so much-Regards, Saso

BTW - the lens is very good, optically and mechanically with very fast and accurate AF.

Well thank you, guys! You've been very helpfull. There is some powerful argument about 16-45. I thing this lens is a winner. I agree with most of your statements. When the equipment arrive I will let you know. I will do some test photos and report what you all already know that the lens is great!

Have a nice day, regards - Saso

I'm in little doubts about which lens to pick up for D... Pentax (Pentax DA 16-45 f/4 ED AL smc) zoom is, as I read, very sharp with good colors, saturation, contrast, etc. from edge to edge... But it has max. aperture of f/4.
On the other hand, the Tamron AF 28-75 F/2,8 LD Asf. XR (IF) Di and Tamron AF SP 17-35mm F/2,8-4,0 LD Asf. Di IF had better max. aperture but I'm not to convinced about those ones.

There's one more possibility with two Sigmas:
Sigma 17-35 F/2,8-4,0 EX Asf. za Pentax
Sigma 24-70 F/2,8 EX DG Asf. za Pentax

They all round 340 GBP - 420 GBP. What do you think? I want to buy Pentax but do you thing I have better option among the 5 of them?

Thank you for youre answers...

Bye - Saso

Hello Brian!

I bought *ist D... This morning I was a little confused in the store. I ask the seller about the card and he said that SD goes in D. I remembered that in read specification about D and it said that CF card goes in to the D. After that I was not so convinced any more . But I thing youre right about the CF card. Thanks for pointing out. In any case I will buy a 1GB card and try to buy the right one

Cheers Saso

Well thanks guys, you were very, very helpfull. I'm certain now which one to pick up among 3 of them. 16-45 of course! I have seen the grip and 16-45 today when I was paying the deposit for the D. After that I don't have any doubts about the quality of the D line stuff
I was told that D is almost on the way and will be in Slovenia in 2 or 3 weeks. I can't wait

Thanks again and bye...

Regards - S.

p.s.- I will let you know when the D will arrive
