I've found there is a big drawback with monopods when shooting your kid's soccer matches. When a goal is imminent, there is a risk of becoming swept up in the moment and stepping away from the camera. Monopods don't stand by themselves. That's why I reckon they could be improved with the addition of one or even two legs. A three legged monopod would easily stand by itself, and would be a perfect platform for a pan/tilt head. It could be called a "Triple Pod, or Trimonopod", or something like that. If Mr. Manfrotto or Mr. Velbon picks up my idea, I want a cut of the profits.

Thanks all for the advice. I'm leaning towards the 35 now.

Depends on the budget. If you can afford a K5 at the middle of the model run, when prices are still pretty high, then just buy it. If, like me, you don't really have a photographic budget, wait till the end of the model run and buy the outgoing model, if it's a good one. I had a K100D Super, so when I spotted the K7 in the dying days of the run, for a very good price, I went for it, and couldn't be happier. It's a really high Wality piece if kit.

If you had a good quiver of zoom lenses, and wanted to add just one good prime macro, of short focal length (35 - 50mm), which one of these two would you choose and why? DFA 50mm f2.8 or DA35mm f2.8.

Velbon RUP-43. Has a built-in head which easily supports the K7 and Tokina 80-400 (1.6kg+), and would be tall enough for, well, tall people.

We here in Australia have just had a national Census, to figure out how many people drive bloody Holdens or something. Maybe we could do the same thing on this site. Get everyone to sign in just once to a thread, and count how many lurkers there are. Run the thread for a week or two. Prizes for most innovative cheerio.

Here's another vote for the Tokina 80-400. Solid build, very usable images once stopped down a bit, and a great long zoom. I think there's one on ebay at the moment 330597880388 that looks like a good copy.
Looks like the seller also has a classic 35-105 A series. Hmmmm, might even throw a bid on......

More professional?? I thought this was number 1? If you wouldn't mind, could you tell me which one is more professional, so I can clear off out of here?
