This lens is in genuinely excellent condition and comes boxed and complete with soft case, metal lens hood, UV filter, instruction manual and original front and rear caps. It's a fantastically sharp macro lens rated 9.8/10 in user reviews on PentaxForums link. It was bought new by me in April 2008 from Bristol Cameras. I'm only selling because I recently acquired the Pentax 100mm WR Macro from Jessops.

Price £290 including UK postage via RMSD.

Pictures to follow.

Like a few other members of this forum I was lucky enough to acquire an FA 50mm f1.4 from Jessops recently, which means my Pentax-F 50mm f1.7 is now surplus to requirements.

I have had it for around 12 months and I've been really pleased with its performance on my K20D and the images it produces. It is in good condition with no dents, dings, scuffs, scratches or fungus. I will take some pictures of the lens and add them tomorrow. It comes with the original Pentax front cap and a plain push on rear cap.

Based on looking through other classified ads here and on ebay I believe £145 including Royal Mail Special Delivery is a reasonable asking price. I will accept Paypal gift or bank transfer.

I've not sold on here previously but I did give away a reversing ring to a member here and in the unlikely event that the eventual buyer of this lens discovers a problem I had missed then I will sort it out.

I'm sure it will prove less of a mystery than how to move photos around via wifi. Enjoy!

Actually Bernard I think this may do what you want link. Effectively allowing itunes synchronisation via WiFi rather than using a USB cable

Roy, there is a cable in the box, and it works fine (bit like down loading from my camera - in reverse.

The idea arose because of the WiFi set up and the fact that everything else on the network shows up in "my network places".

It also meant that she wouldn't have to endure the "tip" which is my hideaway whilst she surfs the folder with the pics in.

I'm sorry to belabour this but, uploading to another site simply to download again doesn't tick the right box

Bernard, this is more awkward than it really needs to be because the ipad is not designed to natively manage files and itunes or other apple certified apps must provide the connection between the ipad and your PC. So whilst it is relatively straightforward to set up a home network using WiFi to move files between different PCs it is not possible (or at least very technically complicated involving jailbreaking and/or special hardware) to do that directly between a WiFi enabled PC and an ipad without going via itunes or icloud.

How about Cloud? I seem to think that when my son takes pictures they appear on his iPad with no intervention from him at all, similar to an automatic backup.
John, I think that is for photos you take on an apple device if you use apple's Photo Stream. Take a picture on your iphone or ipad and it appears on any other apple device that uses the same apple id. Generally the cloud refers to storage somewhere on the internet yet secure, so Flickr, Photobucket, Photo Stream and Dropbox are all termed cloud-based applications.

I have used both the methods John and techno-terminator mention.

Your wife's ipad should have come with a cable that plugs into the bottom of the ipad and then into the USB port of your PC or Mac. If you have itunes installed you can load the photos into itunes and synchronise into the photo gallery on the ipad.

Dropbox also works. For this you will need to register and install Dropbox on your PC and install the Dropbox app on the ipad. Up to 2GB of files, including photos can be stored per month, free of charge. Anything added to the dropbox folder on the PC can then be viewed on the ipad. Search for dropbox on google and/or the app store on your ipad for more information and to dowload the software.

A third alternative is to store your pictures on flickr or photobucket from your PC and install the corresponding apps on your wife's ipad. This is better for photos whereas Dropbox can be used for all sorts of files.

Hi Jacqui,

Mirror lenses are long telephoto lenses that include two mirrors as well as lens elements. Light enters the front element and is reflected off a large, concave forward facing mirror at the rear of the lens that directs the lens to a small rear facing mirror at the front which, in turn, reflects light through the aperture. This reduces the physical length of the lens by about a third, as well as the size and weight, making it much easier to handle.

There are a couple of drawbacks however. First the aperture is usually (always?)fixed, for example 500mm f/8, so it cannot be stopped down and the bokeh is unusual so that out of focus highlights are actually rings.

The only challenge on K-x is getting the correct exposure but with a fixed aperture I think that should be pretty easy. Someone with a K-x and experience of using a mirror lens on it may be able to give you detailed instructions.

Regards,
Roy
