There's no need to defend yourselves that your images are great without any editing. Photoshop is as much of an art as Photography if used to its potential. I for one have no issues with any amount of photoshopping, if the final image is pleasing (no matter how unreal) then that's what's important to me. In fact I have a few ideas for some photo manipulation projects myself.

Those here who have mastered composition & exposure & already make great images without any digital tinkering would still benefit from mastering photoshop to take their images to the next level.

However, as a secondary low cost option I think it would be ok, unless Unlocker or ttk can suggest a comparible alternative ? Of course it depends on what kind of editing is being done, if it's just basic stuff then resolution isn't that critical I'd say, you'd be better served by a higher contrast ratio to recreate more accurate colour.

After my desktop computer died, I replaced it with my current laptop. I still use my old 19" CRT monitor when image editing however. The Dual display is really handy I find. I will be looking to change the monitor shortly (only as a space saving measure, a 19" CRT is quite a sizeable box as you can imagine) - It seems the maximum resolution for most mainstream 22-26" LCD monitors is 1900x1200 but contrast ratio can vary from 1000:1 - 20,000:1 .

It seems the max resolution of that model is 1440 x 900 which isn't bad. If it's something to use whilst away from home it'll be easily up to the job.
I'd just compare the appearance of an identical image on the laptop & your main editing display & try & get the laptop display to match as close as possible.

Plus according to that the GX-20 is 15 megapixel & the K20d is 14 megapixel.

A laptop will always be a compromise anyway. The inbuilt monitor will be more of a hindrance than the graphics card. Usually coated for use in sunlight, brightness changes as viewing angle does etc.

With regards to handling Those programs, then it'll perform fine. My laptop with 1.7gb core 2 duo & 3gb RAM works fine. I think the 4500mhd supports HD so you could always rig it up to a HD tv when working at home.

I'm new round these parts & apologise if you've posted some already, but I'd love to see examples of the 2 techniques I've quoted & a brief how-to if it's not too much trouble

Why register?
The purpose of registration is to ensure that you have proper, independently verifiable, evidence of your work. This ensures that if another party steals your photos you have solid evidence to prove your claim.
Without registration it can be very difficult, and often impossible, to prove your ownership if another person claims the photo belong to them.

If you exclusively shoot raw & keep the files, I'd say that should stand up in court as sufficient proof.

Maybe Pentax are letting the production bugs work themselves out before producing theirs.
Or maybe it's not that much of a collaboration as we thought. Tokina might design & produce the lens & send it to Pentax who then reverse engineer it into a K mount & weatherproof construction.
