I was going to say it could use a bit more DOF to get more of the tail and feet in focus. Then I looked at the EXIF data. ISO 800, f4, and 1/30th/sec.

Looks like you had challenging light.

Great pic under the circumstances.
1/30th is pushing it at 118mm I think ! I captured a few more interesting poses but they were, lets say "less sharp" I was able to steady myself on the gate this little fella was perched on for this one.

ISO 800 is really pushing it for me as I hate digital noise, I've tried to take it easy on the noise reduction to keep some detail in the feathers, bit of a balancing act.

Lovely Shot, Wish I could get this close to my resident robin!.
Odd you should say that - my cat feels just the same way.

Mike
Now that's a great shot right there as the feathers fly !

Thanks all for your kind comments.

Nice viewpoint & great fluffy clouds. Ever so-slightly overexposed I think, although it's always tricky with bright sunlight on white cloud.

If only all the uk wildlife were as tame as these little guys.

I'm gonna second Mikew here, get down to TK Maxx & get an everyday messenger bag (And the leather ones aint twice as much !) not the laptop looking type either as you may be mugged for that ! The flash, extra lens & all the other gear can be kept in their own cases inside the bag to stop stuff knocking together.

I've got a backpack that houses (just) all my gear for when I'm on a mission to take photos at a specific location, but if you're just out for a wander you'll more than likely leave it all at home, whereas you'll be more likely to throw the messenger bag over your shoulder & off to go !

No worries Mike and I get your point.
10% and neighbours wasn't correct of me to say, sorry for that.

It is not true that most child abuse involves strangers. The majority of abuse is by a family member or someone else known to the child.
This was all I wanted to say.
This is btw taken from the NSPCC site link

1% of children aged under 16 experienced sexual abuse by a parent or carer, and a further 3% by another relative during childhood.

11% of children aged under 16 experienced sexual abuse during childhood by people known but unrelated to them.

5% of children aged under 16 experienced sexual abuse during childhood by an adult stranger or someone they had just met.

Here are the numbers coming from link
These are UK numbers.
It's common knowledge that 84.7% of statistics are made up on the spot.

No cloning done at all - honestly guv!

Just sharpened it a bit that's all. And cropped a fair amount.

Would have been nice to have a DA*60-250 with me. That one will have to wait...
Sorry Bob, not casting aspersions on your post processing. It must be a combination of blurred grass heads combined with the cropping & sharpening.

Surely if it's heavily cropped it would have been nice to have a ##-500mm zoom with you ?

Bob, it looks like there's some very nasty cloning work around the bird on the 2nd one.
