Thanks John,
My confusion arose because in the Danilo Cecchi book (Hove collectors Guide to Pentax 1952-89) the SMC Takumar is stated as having five elements, which was changed to 6-6 on going to the K version. The Asahi Historical Club website link gives the formula as 6-6 for the SMC Takumar 85/1.8.

Hi, I have the SMC Takumar 85mm f1.8 and would be interested if anyone has done a side by side comparison with the pentax K 85mm f1.8 - especially if done on a DSLR. I originally thought these lenses had the same optical arrangement but on further checking found there was a change from five to six elements on the K version - does this have any significant effect on picture quality (Bokeh etc)?

Thanks
Rowdy

Just found this site wihth images from a shoot out between various pentax 85s:link

P&P via Special Delivery in the UK will be £6 for each lens. I'm also prepared to post overseas.

Prices quoted are based on ebay realised prices.
No fungus or any other problems.
Of these the 50mm/1.4 had had the most use. The 120mm is quite rare.
Obviously returns accepted if you're not happy after buying.

You might be able to find a Pentax-A 50mm f2.8 macro for around £100. This has a recessed front element so probably no need for a lens hood in most situations.

This Originally came as the kit lens with my *ist DS.
I tend to prefer using primes so it's had very little use and is consequently in pristine condition with hood and end caps.

Looking for £35 (inclusive of P&P in the UK) - cheque or paypal.

I'd appreciate any comments on the relative IQ and handling properties of the Pentax DA 55-300mm f4-5.8 ED and the older Pentax FA 80-320mm F4.5-5.6. I have the older lens and have been happy with the photos (used on a *istDS), although lens creep can be a bit frustrating and am thinking of trying the DA 55-300mm.

Thanks,
Clive

Hi,
I'd appreciate any comments relating to the relative performance of these two lenses (apart from the obvious advantage of the weather sealing). Is the difference sufficient to warrant an upgrade?

Thanks,
Rowdy
