I'd appreciate any comments on experience with either the Jupiter 9 85/2 or SMC Takumar 85/1.8 (both M42 mount) on a digital body. Both I believe are well regarded on film cameras but I gather lens performance on digital can be different - something to do with coatings (or rather the lack of) on the rear element affecting reflections from the sensor? The jupiter 9 is supposed to have good bokeh.

Thanks,
Rowdy

Hi, I'm considering acquiring a bellows unit to give me extra flexability for occasional macro work. As far as I can tell the ideal unit in terms of construction quality would be the 'Auto Bellows A'. However I've read that the pentaprism overhang on the DS might make coupling with the bellows awkward. I'd appreciate comments from anyone with direct experience of using bellows on a DS. A cheaper alternative to the Auto Bellows A woould be an M42 unit, of which there appear to be many available secondhand.

Thanks,
Rowdy

Re macroconverters. I came across the following website, which also disuses the merits of some of the more exotic M42 lenses on a Pentax DS.

Hi, I've recently acquired one of these for use as a 'standard' lens on a *ist DS. I'd be interested in any experience of results with the lens - it seems to have a good reputation although I can't help suspecting scarcity may given it something of a fetishistic following. It is of course a joy to handle.

Thanks,

I'd be interested in hearing of anyone's experience of using the Pentax rear converts (1.4X-S and 2X-S) on any of the Pentax Digital SLRs (I have the DS). Can I assume use of a 2X-S on a 100mm lens would give the (35mm) equivalent of 300mm on a Digital body (or is it 250mm)?
Any comments on the quality of alternative makes of rear converter that have the PKA couplings would also be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have any experience in shooting through an IR filter, although I've recently acquired one (Hoya R72) to try out later in the Spring. I found some useful info on the following website, which also refers to the processing in Photoshop.
