Has anyone else noticed the lens prices have all jumped up recently? The “special offers” available last week were actually the same as the previous listings; I use the Camera Price Buster comparison site and it hasn’t caught up yet, as of time of writing, so you can see the differences when you click on the links.

There is a 250 year old watermill down the road (there has been one there since Domesday) which has never been so busy grinding out flour! You cannot now just turn up and buy the stuff but they supply a local farm shop which takes online orders, and leaves it out for collection at a pre-arranged time. The mill’s commercial orders are now on a 6-7 week delivery time despite the restaurants being closed. Also the village bakery said if we want some flour they will bag some up for us, being regular customers, so again it is the local businesses that are being resourceful where the supermarkets fail.

Incidentally the mill is a great site for photos on open days, thank goodness for Pentax dust-resistant kit as the flour dust gets everywhere! Our photo club had an evening visit planned this summer but that of course is on hold.

Just outside my house is a road verge with wild flowers so I took a snap about a month ago of a cowslip, and today of some others. Where the cowslips grow is a very wide verge and it used to be covered with cowslips and oxe-eye daisies but since some highway or services agency dumped a load of subsoil over the top of it they only pop up in the patches that were left. Bl***y vandals! Hopefully they will come back in time.

If I go for a walk with just one lens then this is it, very versatile and sharp.

Muckiest job imaginable just completed, moving the (almost full) compost bin ready for my new mini greenhouse which hopefully is coming next week. Luckily some of the content is ready to use so the tomatoes will get a boost.

Excellently observed and framed, a fascinating project. You have probably set a few ideas in motion here!

Is anyone here a contributor? It would be worth keeping an eye open for the 2020 yearbook entry details I guess at the end of the year, there is a Facebook link on the home page for updates.

The Pentaxians Yearbook 2019 (sorry about the bodged title) is now available to buy, or download for free:
