These remind me of a tale told to me by a client; in his outbuilding he removed the dust sheet from a pristine pale blue Ferrari convertible from the 1970s (sorry not an aficionado so don’t know the model). He remembered as a boy living in Switzerland and driving with his dad to the Ferrari HQ in his Aston Martin and challenging them to show their cars would do better on the winding mountain roads. The chief engineer took him out and afterwards he bought one on the spot! That was the one he inherited.

I see the latest lens roadmap has another FF compatible wide-angle prime in the pipeline, a star lens perhaps to join the 85mm and 50mm primes? Intrigued by the idea that the new 21mm Limited could replace my DFA 15-30mm I am considering disposing of my sets of Lee Filters SW150 but the new prices are heavily discounted (from a list price total of £1700 to £1150), lowering used prices and showing poor responses on eBay so having second thoughts. I would be interested to hear what others think.

Since moving to full frame shortly after buying this lens (I know, what was I thinking!) it has hardly been used and is as good as new. I am thinking of £249.00 given its condition and a new version is £449.00. It comes in the original box, end caps and soft case. I have been reluctant to sell for now because it is actually a beautifully made lens, but here are some photos plus a couple of examples on the K50:

Radical for a Limited lens, it has weather resistance and a built-in motor. The only drawback with these is you cannot use a square filter system because of the fixed lens hood, but still tempting seeing how much lighter it is than the 15-30mm.

Good advice from pschlute, although I would leave SR on with a monopod; after all it helps to steady the camera especially with a long lens but it is not static as on a tripod. Nothing though beats a high shutter speed for sharp images in such a situation.

The thing about pop-up ads is nobody with any sense clicks on them, they are irrelevant to the site content and work like scam phone calls - just one response out of hundreds make them the money but to everyone else they are a nuisance and waste of time. OTH targeted relevant ads like SRS must have a much greater take-up, surely that would be the way to go. Not wishing to suggest retail competitors but how about tripod and filter manufacturers etc?

I am finding myself visiting the site a bit less recently because the ads are just so damned irritating. I can imagine that the fixed ad promoters like SRS will maybe review whether to carry on here.

Paul, those two in flight shots were of that plane on its last flight which must have been coming from or going to Doncaster at the time. I remember having a 50mm lens on at the time when it suddenly appeared, and I was desperately trying to attach a telephoto which being all fingers and thumbs it stubbornly refused to engage at first, but managed just in time.

I am with the above, interesting shots but the problem with sky replacement is the light on the remainder of the photo doesn’t match what would happen under a clear blue sky. I think the original would actually look better by conveying a more sombre atmosphere and if that doesn’t really work for you then try them in black and white.
