Pentax seems to concentrate its efforts on the Japanese market, when the K3.III was launched it was briefly the best selling camera there. I also came across an article outlining the different attitudes the Japanese have to established commercial products; here in the west if it loses money we cease production and sell the brand name to the Chinese to stick on tat, whereas the Japanese have a great affection for and loyalty to brands that helped the country’s status and commercial recovery after the Second World War and will not let them go or die even at a cost.

I like it. Thought provoking. Well done.

Is it possible to buy a hardcopy i.e. a real book? I know someone who would appreciate it and has a birthday in the not so distant future...

Steve
Thanks Steve, yes a hard copy will be available soon, Stewart Wall is the person organising everything so email him: [email protected]

Can I throw a question in here? Having enjoyed the 77mm Limited for a while, especially for superb portrait shots, the itch I am currently scratching is for a 43mm Limited. The 24-70mm is on my K1 for most of the time when I want excellent results but it is a bit heavy for longer outings so have a 50mm macro f2.8 as my lightweight prime option. My question is would adding the 43mm Limited give me a step up in quality and versatility? Much as I yearn for the new star primes the weight puts me off so i am looking at the Limited range to provide a decent lightweight alternative.

It's not often you get a phone call out of the blue from a large solicitor's office with good news, my entry for their calendar competition has been selected so I get a cheque for £25.00 plus a free calendar! That's Christmas saved! For the curious it was the one of a bare oak tree covered in frost I posted recently, and curiously on the same day someone in Saudi Arabia downloaded it from Shutterstock.

An unexpected (to me) bonus of this lens is it focuses down to about 2 metres which makes it great for larger insects, also setting my camera to back button focus makes great use of the focus buttons on the lens.Comment Image

It doesn’t look like an updated full frame camera is coming any time soon which is a shame as I would really like to see one with the focusing capabilities of the K3.III and maybe a 45mp sensor. I didn’t see the point of upgrading from the K1 to the mk 2 version but a bigger change could be worthwhile.

Thanks all for your amazing comments, I feel quite humbled. Lubbyman, it is a pity I hadn’t thought of this in time for a spring photo so I might just do one next year; however I would far rather it had been in the right sequence all in the same year.

3 is favourite for me too, with the lovely subtle colours in 4 a close second. Interesting what davidwozhere says about the bokeh, it’s rather different to the 70-200 f2.8 which I hadn’t thought about before. Nice set!
