I remember as a student gazing longingly at the Nikon cameras in shop windows, way beyond my limited budget. I suppose I kept that aspiration at the back of my mind and when I decided to get a DSLR I went into LCE with high hopes - I could finally afford one! What a disappointment, the lower priced models felt cheap and plasticky, nothing like the lovely classic models of my youth. I spotted a K50 and as soon as I picked it up I knew this was what I would get.

First camera as a lad was an Agfa Silette rangefinder which I used to it's limits, including making a rig so it took 3D pictures. Needed to use a handheld light meter which was great training for exposure basics. First SLR wasn't mine, but a Voightlander Bessamatic my Dad very trustingly lent me whilst I was abroad for six months in my twenties. It came back in one piece and I wish I knew what happened to it after he died. Later on the first one I owned was the Pentax SF7, bought about 1989 with the 28-80 lens; it still works a treat so I must try a roll of film, and as it is kept in its leather case I am pleased to say it looks as good as new.

A built-in flash which goes against the direction of 'pro' level cameras, so will it have room for gps? K3II stocks low at present, clearing the shelves for this one?

Does the back button shutter work? Have you double checked all the settings, including the menu options for the shutter button? I have been caught out when the shutter is set only to release when in focus.

You get virtually the same reach with a 150-450mm plus the 1.4x teleconverter for almost half the price. Anyone tried that?

As well as the perfect timing, the lighting played a large part. A constant light source (I wonder what?) created the streak whilst the moment was caught by a flash. How many of us would have thought of setting that up?
