Wondering if anyone has a Pentax 560mm lens for sale or knows the closest place to me where I can hire one from. I am close to Oban so expect it might be Glasgow.

You could ask your local camera club perhaps: http://www.obanpc.co.uk/
Calument (Glasgow & Ediburgh etc.) do Pentax lens hire but doubt they'll do a 560. https://calumetrental.co.uk/pentax-1
Jessops, but not what you want: http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/Current%20Offers/rental/Pentax%20...
SRS do have one for hire. Are you rich? http://www.srsmicrosystems.co.uk/hire/

Thanks John - mmmmm £350 for 3 days! - kind of chicken and egg in that if I had that sort of cash to spend on a hire I probably would not be hesitant about splashing out on a new one.

perhaps my question should have been "is there anyone within 100 miles of Oban who would mind if I came and spent a morning/afternoon with them to see what a 560mm (them using it, not me) is like in exchange for a £50 donation to their favourite charity"

Ho-hum.

Have you seen this review of it on YouTube?

You get virtually the same reach with a 150-450mm plus the 1.4x teleconverter for almost half the price. Anyone tried that?

I'll check out that youtube vid -thanks.

Alan - maybe if I combined it with a trip south, that I do from time to time, 250 miles is an option!

Can anyone point me to some photo taken with 150-450mm plus 1.4 converter?

Haven't had the converter on mine. Most of the time I'm in poor light. Don't want to lose a stop. Seen some good shots with the 560 and the converter too. I haven't managed to get one though.

I have used both together a few times, obviously you need good light and a little luck but the results are passable.
