Carrying on the lens theme, I read an interesting point that lenses are 'keepers' and retain their value for much longer than camera bodies which depreciate with shutter count and age, so systems should be selected on what lenses will most suit. However I am sure most of us pick the camera first and as long as there is a reasonable lens catalogue go from there. A big sell for me is the extensive WR range including flash plus the universal SR which, being body rather than lens based, fits neatly into the first point that every time the body is upgraded then so is the SR capability.

The only reason I would consider changing systems is the lens range option, not the bodies necessarily. But then would I really spend the sort of money a Zeiss or Canon supertelephoto demand? Time for a reality check. The 'grass is greener' syndrome has to be frustration with one's own limitations rather than the equipment's. I saw a report recently that half the K1 sales were to purchasers who hadn't previously used Pentax, but no idea how that could be concluded; I guess they look at trade-ins but many Pentax users who bought a K1 would add it to their existing system, not replace the body so would they count as new Pentax purchases?

Like I said, feel before you buy.....

I just browsed the 15-30mm on th'internet and comparative reviews with the Tamron version indicate that the Pentax has better sharpness across the image. It is also 60g lighter, due no doubt to the lack of SR.

When we eventually get the new FF primes it will be interesting to see at what level they are pitched, but I am guessing they will be equivalent to the Limited range. Full frame lenses are larger and heavier and that comes at a price, and whichever system you choose that is a constant even if you go for mirrorless.

Assuming the K1 operates in a similar way, the remote shutter operation can be changed in the menu section.

Sounds a bit drastic, all you need do is list all the wide angle lens options of which there aren't that many. Make a trip to Watford when the K1 is in stock and just try a couple, nothing beats hands-on trialling.

The 15-30mm is a lovely lens, everything looks much brighter in the viewfinder when I swop over from the 28-105mm. It is expensive though and if you want filters, especially for landscape, you have to use the Lee Filters SW150 system which will add a few hundred pounds and take a lot of space up in the bag. There are a new wide angle prime and ultra wide angle prime plus a fisheye zoom in the lens roadmap but progress seems slow on that front.

The new prime lenses have gone a bit quiet too!

To build my business website I used Mr Site but it would not suit a photography business. There are dedicated photographer's websites out there and you will soon find some by googling and looking at ads in photo magazines. Also worth looking at websites of photographers you like, usually they will have the web designer details. Look for smugmug, squarespace, photodeck etc.

Can I just remind everyone that we they should avoid making any accusations here. This is discussing real people, and if it were me and I'd just gone on a couple of weeks holiday I would be pretty miffed about having aspersions cast in public. It's also possible that someone could have been rushed into hospital, in which case it could be distressing as well.

Before rushing to publish, I would first check with the local sorting office to see if there's a parcel there awaiting collection. It is not unknown for no card to be left. For the same reason check with neighbours. Also check your bins as delivery drivers can decide to pop parcels into them.
My last comments were intended to be for general precautions, and carefully phrased to be non-accusatory. I am highlighting the shortcomings of relying on the messaging system and a phone call could sort things out much more amicably.

A while ago I was awaiting a parcel from the US and a passerby found the advice card from Royal Mail on the pavement outside!

Why should I need his contact details?
You could be paying several hundred pounds to a complete stranger (and that includes all your online mates) so a telephone number and address will be useful if things go wrong for whatever reason as in this case. I am late receiving a package from an Amazon supplier and it looks as if this is due to Royal Mail, but at least I can deal direct rather than through an anonymous messaging service.
