When the K1 was launched its sales outstripped expectations, became the bestselling DSLR in Japan and a certain well-known retailer here in the UK told me that launch day was his busiest (and probably most profitable) ever. A similar sales success followed the 645Z after its launch so don't tell me no-one is buying Pentax; the K70 and KP have both received good reviews but Ricoh needs to get those new FF lenses launched and maybe get another FF body and MF body out as larger sensor bodies are the way things appear to be moving.

Not the first 'knock Pentax' video from this fat freak we have seen here. Given his manner and tone I have to question his motives. All this 'I have connections' stuff is just malicious rumourmongering.

Beautiful, I find horses really tricky as they always move their heads or look away just as I press the shutter!

I guess there is a reason virtually every training setup I have seen, all photo printing demo stands, and the default desktop for pro photographers is a mac. Also it doesn't have an annoying touch screen and is an alternative to windows 10.

Obvious vignetting from the 1.4x teleconverter which is a shame, please Pentax bring out a FF version!

My understanding is that the 560mm was designed as a surveillance lens, hence the telescope type design. Maybe it evolved for a specific requirement and it was decided to make the lens generally available. It happens to be good for wildlife as well in magnification and sharpness but is too unwieldy for me. Whilst I cannot afford it nor justify buying the lens if I could, I am just glad that Pentax have this in their current line-up. A conventional 600mm f4 or 5.6 would be nice with a shorter barrel.

I think I have one of each, an Iomega desk unit and a 1TB Seagate portable for my photos but neither say what type they are, neither does the Seagate website. Both run without any noticeable delay. It is really hard to find simple unbiased information on the technical stuff and the manufacturer's websites just give basic specs without explanation.

Not worrying so much as not spending money where it may not be necessary. I am going to imac because I really don't like windows 10 and the imac just appears to be designed for the professional user. I have just downloaded a trial windows version of the 2018 software I use for work which I will buy for the imac and bizarrely it does things quicker on my old machine than my 10 year old software. So I am pretty much decided on a 16 GB RAM with 1TB memory.
Is that a 1TB SSD? I personally wouldn't bother with a machine that isn't SSD these days. I'd rather have a small SSD (256Gb) and then buy a cheap 2TB External Drive for storage.

fyi, 'memory' is RAM, not storage space!
Slip of the tongue. Standard storage is 1TB fusion drive, SSD is available up to 256 GB. I have no idea what they mean so just googled and didn't understand any of it never mind the advantages of either. I use external storage for work archive and another for my photos so the computer storage is just for current workload. I am sure the guy in the computer shop told me a while ago that the fusion drive is a good thing but now I am confused!

Take recommended retail prices (£) of three most popular FF lenses with equivalents across all manufacturers: 15-30 f28, 24-70 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8.
Pentax: 1500+1149+1850=4499
Canon: 1790+2300+1540 (no IS on any)=5630
Nikon: 1670+1849+2650=6169 (only IS on 70-200)
Sony: 1729+1679+2799=6207
Sigma doesn't have the equivalent wide-angle zoom but the other sizes are 899+1539 so are cheaper options.
Where there is more than one option I have taken the cheapest.
If youre doing like formlike then you really should include the tamron 15-30 as an equibalent in the other mounts and then you will see a significant price difference. To be honest the price difference between the tamron 15-30 and the Pentax is quiet simply price goiging by Pentax. Im all for a bit of markup but nearly a £1000 is obscene.
Actually nearer £550 difference for which you get improved HD coating, WR and quick-shift but not anti-shake, and possibly a smaller market than the other mounts. But own brand lenses are more expensive than Sigma and Tamron and only by going to these brands can Nikon/Canon/Sony match the Pentax prices.
