I used to do 'proper' Super 8 movies, fully edited with sound and shown in public through the local cine club. Quite enjoyable to do really. With the advent of video it became a nightmare to edit anything and at the same time the cost of film rocketed so I sadly lost interest. I can't believe many casual home videographers could afford the kit to satisfactorily edit 4K yet so why even consider incorporating it in a basic DSLR?
4K would work better with a mirrorless. Actually are there any DSLRs which do 4K, Pentax or otherwise and if so, what do they cost? A Google search for DSLR cameras with 4K produced for me a page of mirrorless cameras, non in fact were DSLRs!
So which camera would a Pentax DSLR have to compete against should it provide 4K video? (I don't mean mirrorless offerings!) Or to put it another way, which 4K cameras also provide the facility of being a full single lens reflex camera too?
Nikon D850 (if you can get one)

I doubt if I would use an ultra wide-angle to try to cram everything in, it would create too much distortion and exaggerated distance. Better to have a standard zoom like the 18-55mm and be selective, which would give a better sense of the place, or at a push do a stitched vertical panorama. Maybe a longer zoom for details but you don't want to be wandering around with a load of kit or a heavy lens.

Thank you all at SRS, Matt and Luke for a great morning. Excellent info on the KP and the K1 - especially when comparisons were made to the K3. It was great to get hands on with both cameras, thanks Matt for letting me try you 15-30 on the K1 too - as wide as I need and then some. My upgrade path from K3 could well be KP or K1. After trying both - the K1 felt better in my hands (as familiar as my K3) and looking at the samples shots I took inside the church in dark corners it would suit me well. I'm not sure that I would be interested in using my DA* zooms in crop mode on the K1 so lens upgrades/trade-ins would be required too (anyone have experience using them with the K1?)
I realised that the K1 would realistically mean getting new lenses so effectively a new system so I needed to be sure that I was right to stay with Pentax. With that in mind I handled comparative bodies at The Photography Show but came back to the K1. I think you either stay with APS-C format and get the best body and lenses you can, or accept that to get the most potential from the K1 then new lenses are required, and I must say the results they give are stunning. On your point about dark churches it is amazing how much detail you can pull out in post processing.

To be honest Gareth if I had come across this shoreline I would have struggled to see any potential, so well done for seeing something others would pass by. Sign of a true photographer.

Just thought, we have had a massive solar flare recently and it is known that magnetic disturbances can disrupt birds and animals' navigation. Hopefully it gets 'reset' when back to normal.

Who wants to hear a saga about vacuum cleaners? After diligently washing the filter in the Dyson it died it spectacular fashion. As herself was using it at the time she was not best pleased. Off to Currys for a new one, herself found it much harder to push and put her back out; what are they thinking? Back to shop for a Vax but had to order online, deafeningly loud so that went as well. Ordered a Gtec, only available online and made in Worcester, you must have seen the ads. Brilliant! Makes the others look so last century, great to see real innovation.

It's because a group of party-poopers decided to spoil a celebration of nationalism to make a political point. Shame the organisers allowed it but that's what happens when the undemocratic exploit the very democracy they resent.

" lower the sensor size". What do you mean by this.
So the K3 is 24 megapixel, as was the Nikon 5500 and others, but the 7500 and 500 are 20.5 megapixel. Newer cameras, lesser megapixels, better images.
Not better images, but less pixels = faster frame rate. If you want better resolution of detail then more pixels are needed but slower frame rate. The top FF Canonikon cameras only achieve the advertised frame rates by reducing the image size to APS-C. On the other hand fewer but larger pixels give good low light sensitivity. There is no 'one solution fits all' but for what I do, landscape and macro, Pentax fits the bill nicely.
