Thanks both, the only way I would make the front page is an action shot of a turnip bouncing off the bishop’s head but the WAA are much too civilised for that.

I have volunteered to help the local allotment association by photographing events and with publicity in their longrunning fight against the C of E Diocese selling their 100 year old site for housing. As they regularly get featured in local and occasionally national press does anyone have advice about best format and file size for publication?

I assume it is the same as on the K1, as cycler says you need a phone or a tablet with the Image Sync app on. You turn the WiFi function on the camera and there is probably a small light which comes on. On the phone/tablet go to the WiFi function and select the camera to pair it, then open the Image Synch app, and it acts rather like the live view on the camera but with additional functions. You can review the images you have taken or select live view and the camera will respond accordingly; you can remotely change the exposure but the main difference is that if you touch anywhere on the screen the camera will focus on that point, and you can also zoom in for more accuracy. There is also an exposure button on the app to take the shot.

I find a mini iPad is ideal as my phone is rather small, the only downside is that the camera battery goes down more quickly.

Ps it didn’t work on my iPhone 5 but since I have updated to a later model it works fine.

Because it's Apple?

Hope you get it all sorted soon.

Chher yourself up with the thought that at least it didn't delete all your documents like the latest Win10 update did for some.
Thanks Gwyn, on Apple all your files are floating around on a cloud somewhere but they magically reappeared a couple of hours later. You also keep getting prompts to update your security first although it has stopped pestering me about Apple Pay since someone hacked into their accounts. My work software eventually downloaded again after a long and fruitless dialogue but in the meantime I phoned the local Apple store with the idea I would take it in and let them fix it; turns out after half an hour the support guy I was talking to was in Greece! A whole bl****y day it has taken and now I have a headache, time to hit the bottle.

Another computer rant! Computer updated to Mojave whatever resulting in a pretty picture of a sand dune - and nothing else, no files, no shortcuts, nothing. Says to sign in to two factor authentication for my iCloud, kept typing in verification codes, passcodes, all incorrect apparently. After an hour of this I phoned Apple help desk and magically everything reappeared - it can take time apparently. Why not a helpful message telling me this? Next go to work software - no authorization! Need to reload my software which it is now doing, again why not a more helpful message telling me this? Fingers crossed it will then work, a whole morning wasted. At least in Windows you can go to recovery to undo everything but in iOS you need to know the special keys to click. Why assume all their customers are computer nerds?

A quick search will show that the best video cameras are not necessarily best choice for stills. Another interesting reveal is that a high frame per second rate will not necessarily translate Into more useable captures as the tracking focus cannot keep up, or it relies on reducing the sensor area for smaller processing requirements. There are several such instances where cameras have hyped features which fall short in reality. On paper Pentax might seem to come up short in these respects but you know that you will get what it claims without hidden compromises. On one of Cameraville’s vlogs he compares the K1’s 4.5f/sec frame rate with another at 7f/sec and succinctly points out he would prefer the better images at 4.5f/sec any day.

In reply to Kim C, Canon and Nikon have both enlarged their mounts to accommodate a moving sensor as well as bringing the lens closer to the sensor which brings its own challenges with lens design - think of the increased angle to the sensor edge. Pentax is unique in having a moving sensor for all its DSLRs and still probably gets more out of this feature than anyone else, and that is because the K- mount is large enough already, with its roots back to 35mm rather than the dawn of digital with smaller sensors.

No need to apologise. Sony is attracting customers from lots of DSLR companies because the’re innovating and are very competitively priced.

This situation is cropping up more and more and the content is usually very similar. People want to stay with Pentax, they really do, but Pentax has not been delivering in areas people want.
That’s not entirely fair, You mean what some people want. There are those who have returned to DSLR from mirrorless due to issues with low light performance. We have just seen the announcement of a GR III as well as the recent high spec lens with more to follow. If and when Pentax release a mirrorless body it will use the current K-mount, not need to make a new one like the others so again seamless use of new and existing lenses. The FF body was slow to come to the market but when it did it was a winner, so who is to say the same won’t happen with mirrorless?
