I have volunteered to help the local allotment association by photographing events and with publicity in their longrunning fight against the C of E Diocese selling their 100 year old site for housing. As they regularly get featured in local and occasionally national press does anyone have advice about best format and file size for publication?

jpg's up to 2000 pix on the long side will be more than adequate for newspaper print. This linkwas printed from a 800x600 file in my Google album link

Have you tried contacting the picture editor and asking the question ? alternatively I'd think for an image that's not either half or full page a 4mb closed size Jpeg would be about right. Newspapers due to the usually recycled paper they use aren't known for the photo printing quality.

Thanks both, the only way I would make the front page is an action shot of a turnip bouncing off the bishop’s head but the WAA are much too civilised for that.

Nice set, must be an interesting place to walk around. There are several allotments within walking distance from my home, and I enjoy just walking through. I should go earlier in the morning and try to meet up with some of the gardeners for some portrait work.

#5 has an interesting geometric game going on with those shadows - makes for a good image!

More interest than you'd find in a housing estate, that's for sure. I love the scarecrow and the cabbage.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
