That giant Gitzo is a monster! Do you carry steps around with it? Or stilts?

As a lad we had to wear shorts all weathers, only allowed in proper trousers in sixth form! Can you imagine that today! Oh all right I know we had long woolly socks but knees were blue from November to March.

Personally I don't have a problem with car parking charges as public transport to the NEC is excellent.

What I do have a problem with, and this is to all other shows as well, is the admission charge.

Manufacturers want us to go and look at their products and either at the show or in the future buy their products.

Admission should be free.

I imagine that would lead to a huge price hike for the stands which for many would become too much, so becomes anti-productive. There are discounts for some societies, students and over 65s (or is it over 60s?). Like I said, if you take advantage of the special offers then you can recoup some or all of the cost. However I still have some photo papers from last year and there isn’t anything significant I need now, so will be coming home lighter than usual. Possibly.

Poked my head out at 4.30 and just misty, no sign of moon or stars. Oddly pinkish glow to the mist though, I just wish I could have been somewhere more picturesque to exploit it, and not stood in my jammies getting frostbite!

Damn I hadn’t noticed. Don’t suppose he wants the Sigma now.

Tried a recipe for a haddock risotto once, it was not universally popular - if I mention it again all they say is “aargh, no, please no!”

These are great, I like that there is no sign of an enclosure and the wolf here is a natural!

Torpiduk’s Sigma 150-500mm is an excellent alternative.

That looks like my old lens I traded for the Pentax 150-450!

I should add that to keep the verticals vertical the camera must be level in all planes, tilting up or down will negate the benefit, and particularly with the Samyang adjusting the shift is easier with two hands as the button is quite small and fiddly; there is the weight of the glass to move vertically so I literally give it a helping hand. For these reasons a tripod is pretty much essential.

It must have been a long dental session! You used the time well, I particularly like the last one. All manual focus I take it?
