Hi all,

Some advice please regarding suggestions for a lens to be used at a football match. Next Wednesday I'm the official photographer for a work related charity football match being held at a football ground in East London and the kick off is at 3pm so light should be good. I'll be using my K-5 and I have my "airshow" lens which is a Sigma 100-300mm F4 and my DA-L 55-300mm.

My question is which one of these would anyone else use? I can't get hold of a 70-200mm F2.8 to use for the day and the other alternative could be a DA*60-250mm which I would hire if that is considered a better lens to use.

Any suggestions/comments welcome, apologies if a similar question has appeared elsewhere in the forum but I haven't found it with the search option.

Thanks

Rob

Alternatively try one of these:

Inov8

I've got one for the K-5 and although it is shown as 1400mAh performance seems just as good.

Thanks Roy. These were more spread out on the images and looked like a dry fluid of some description. Hopefully it's not the sensor problem but might just need a more thorough clean.

I am delighted with my K-5 recieved from SRS last week, but must say the Sensor was very dirty, and it was not just dust but I think multiple (Tiny) spots of grease. I had to buy some swabs and fluid from this super dealer (below) on eBay for £9.99, and I had to use 4 of the swabs to remove 99% of the spots. It would seem that they are not being checked by Pentax before being sent out.

Having looked at my images from the weekend I found about 7 spots on the pictures, hadn't noticed them before but they showed up against the sky and they haven't come off with Digipads. The build date of my K-5 as shown by Photome is 7/12/10. SRS are going to have a look at it for me.

Sabre at that distance - even my turtle K20D + 60-250 manages to keep up with it (mostly) .
This is a fair point - especially since it's maintaining a constant, more or less, distance from the camera in this shot.

How was the K5 with the aircraft approaching head on?
I didn't manage to get any images of the Sabre head on as most of it's display was going across the crowd. However I did manage to get this one of the Lysander and Sea Hurricane as they split in front of the crowd:

Regarding the performance of the K-5, I could see the AF points really working to track the aircraft and I kept more of the images than I deleted which was an improvement although I know some of that comes down to panning technique as well. I had the menu setting on AF-C and focus priority and the camera felt good and I was confident that it would perform well which it did. All in all I was very pleased with it

That's what I mean Mike. If you click on the X it seems to open up my Flickr page where the image is which is not what I had intended!!

Thanks Terry

BTW can anyone actually see the image? On my screen I'm looking at a red X in a white square where the image should be
