Hi Rob

I'm interested in it, but can't send you a PM for another month as I haven't been on the site for 30 days. Perhaps you can send me a PM if it's still available, and we can take it from there.

Jack
PM sent.

Lens still for sale.

No marks on the lens as far as I can see. I don't know the answer to the warranty question for certain, although I seem to remember some time ago SRS posted on here that they would honour the warranty if bought from a PU member. All I can suggest is that they be contacted to see if that is still the case.

For Sale is a Pentax 55-300mm DA-L in a good used condition. I purchased it on 4th August last year from SRS but I miss the quickshift hence the sale. Included with the lens is the serial registration card and proof of purchase with the 2 year Pentax Pro Centre Warranty. I also bought a Pentax lens hood for the lens and this will also be included.

No box or case as Chris was selling them unboxed from kits but it will be well packed.

£160 including delivery. Payment via bank transfer is preferable.

Any questions just ask.

Both Barrie and I suffered this about 3 weeks ago, and we mentioned it on here. He was at Beamish and I was at The Farnes
Any ideas as to what might have caused it?

P-51 Mustang and one of the Skyraider collided....3ft of Skyraider wing chopped off but made it to the ground ok, Mustang lost control and crashed - pilot ejected safely. No casualties....

I do recall seeing someone with a K-7/K-5 and a DA-L 55-300, I was in the throng behind the 3xBuchons (Me-109s) more or less all the time. Good display but the number of aircraft was disappointing - but I guess we have to get used to the idea of fewer aircraft at displays.
I spent the time watching the display near the "Tank Bank" outside the Land Warfare Hall

Thanks for all your advice, looks like I might have to trade up to a full version of the 55-300mm then if it is much better than the DA-L as I do like the IQ of that lens...

It works better on the K-5 than on previous DSLRs such as the K20D. There is far less hunting. Also the DA version has Quick Shift, which does help to fine tune the AF when required.

My impression, watching others focus with other makes of similarly priced lenses, is that it's the best option without moving to the big guns.

So yes, I'm talking about AF in general. However, the main difference with the DA-L that's rlevant to the subjewct here is of course that QS feature. The hood is another bonus of course as it ensures best performance optically.
Thanks John, I bought the DA-L as I thought I'd be saving money as they were both the same lens...maybe not now

I was at Flying Legends on Saturday and my DA*60-250 died within 10 shots (better state than the Mustang and Skyraider after yesterday's events). I think I did spot you Rob, as I was checking out each Pentax user I passed....didn't stop to talk in case you thought I was a patronising Nikon user....

When the DA* works it's peerless, when it doesn't it's annoying.
I was there along with my 2 sons who were dressed in camo gear what happened yesterday then?

Thanks for all your replies so far, however the 150-500mm would be too big for a day out travelling light!!
