Thanks all, was reliably informed by the wife that it is a Lily. The A100/2.8 Macro has a curious rendering to it in harsh light, almost fish scale like if you open it up fully.

I dunno, it's a flower. A bunch of them cost me a fiver , they are more purple in real life and open up into 6 pointed stars with orange stamen.

Colour for me, has a richness to it that the B&W does not.

You had me looking for a 2.5/28 - nearest I came to was the C/Y 2.8/28
Anyways I am using this as my primary lens for the month, barring exceptions where @LennyBloke has tempted me with a new arrival. I've long understood its capability to close focus but as the month goes on I will be looking for what it does at Infinity and stopped down to f/8-f/11 range where it assumes a completely different personality.

12 Days in and close focus will render something a bit old school (sharp in the centre but really nice OOF transitions, resolving power does drop off at the edges). It can also misbehave quite willfully wide open too.

1: Misbehaviour - Focus distance, 10" - 12", f/2.8 - Centre 2/3rds of frame, strong resolution but the edges fall down, lots of LoCA in high contrast transitions

3: Lets go to Infinity & f/10 - Click through on the Title at the bottom and open up full size, i'm loving the wall detail. Bit of green fringing visible on top wall left side.

Wow, he doesn't like the 70-200 , I stopped when he started slagging forum members for posting 'great' images but were oversharpened and with a pop up sign stating amateurs. Definitely has a bee in his bonnet about focus breathing and lack of compression at 200mm MFD. Each to his own I suppose. Ex Pentaxians seem to become like ex smokers in their zealotry.

Well Cameraville has just done his last Pentax video. Interesting concept, use Pentax and its loyal users to gain enough visibility to gain momentum and hits, then shift to Sony or others.

Mine arrived on Thursday morning. Threw it on the K-1 and pointed it at various bits in the kitchen. 5th shot was of Max, 200mm, 1/125s, f/2.8




Works for me.
