Whatever the colour-label, it's a nice picture of a fascinating flower. What is it??

I dunno, it's a flower. A bunch of them cost me a fiver , they are more purple in real life and open up into 6 pointed stars with orange stamen.

I would wager it is a lily of some sort. If it looks half as good in the flesh as it does in your image, Robbie, then it is a truly glorious bloom

Thanks all, was reliably informed by the wife that it is a Lily. The A100/2.8 Macro has a curious rendering to it in harsh light, almost fish scale like if you open it up fully.
