what is the difference between a pentax as per the ebay link and the same thing badged as jessops that i won for £65. looks identical and does the same thing allowing AF to pass through

looked in the k7 manual and menu and there is nothing to say either method of noise reduction ,slow shutter or high iso, are only for jpeg which is normaly indicated if this is the case. i.e hdr only jpeg. as i was hoping to do some evening/night shooting in raw using noise reduction

your kit lens gives you a wide angle at 18mm this is wider than your 27mm compact.whether it is wide enough only you can decide. try comparison shots of the same scene. another is the tamron 10-24mm around similar price to the sigma . dont know about IQ between the two though but some body here will.

in reply to Gareth, calming down a bit i was coming to that frame of mind. it still does what its supposed to do and John could be right.it is not damage just marks that make it appear it has been apart which then send doubts about the whole thing.
weighing it all up with 20 20 hindsight i probably let the fact it was not perfect get to me, but nothing is in this life and it,s too short to get stressed like that. so Gareth i will call it my quirky lens and use it. thanks to everyone

is there a good,honest idependant lens repair service that anyone knows of. bought a 170-500mm have a problem in that the max apeture stated on the lens(f5-6.3) is not seen by the camera(K7), the camera sees f4.5-6.7.
had a close look at the rear end of the lens today there are marks on the retaing nut on the rear element which suggest it may have been apart. there are also marks on the iris actuating lever. i imagine it just wants setting up properly.any help appreciated

when i bought it last october it was nearly £90 less than todays price at the same dealer. i tend to price any thing i sell against the price i paid remembering at the end of the day it is secondhand plus i want to sell it. can,t be bothered to get into a bartering situation. maybe you will get there 1st next time. cheers
