Picasa can view RAW files, don't know if it will view DNG files but it won't cost you anything to find out as it is a free download from Google.
Cheers

Just tried it with Adobe's Lightroom 3.2 - works fine with .dng (RAW) files.

A slideshow might sound good, but it's a sequence of shots one by one. Thus, you'll probably lose track of the ones you want to keep (or delete) fairly rapidly.

Most products have views of images on an electronic version of a 'contact sheet', that might suit your intended task better in practice.

While in that mode, you can generally flag or mark individual images for later action. So if you have a number of images (not necessarily side by side) that you don't want, mark them for deletion as you go through, and clean them out in one swoop at the end.

2nd vote for Picasa here. It can definitely handle DNGs from my K20D, it's simple to use and great at what it does.

I have FastStone, a freebie (donationware) which displays DNGs. It's very fast to scroll through and zoom full screen images, or slideshow them.

I'm with I-berg here that the idea might sound good but that it will not work so well in practice.

I think the best way is to use Adobe Bridge (which standard packed with photoshop I believe) and use the film strip option to view the photos.
You'll have a small preview strip of the photos at the bottom and the rest of the screen is used to show the photo which is selected big.

I've never used Bridge only looked at it once to see what it is.
From the little bit of playing I just did.
When you press on the spacebar on your keyboard you open the photo to full screen and when you click on the photo you zoom in to that part and with the arrow keys you can cycle to your next or previous photo.
At least that's how it works with the one that's with CS5, hopefully it works the same for you since that's what you wanted right?

The Photoshop Organizer does slide shows of any format, jpeg, RAW or dng.

In addition it has the ability to compare two shots side by side, a very useful feature when sorting your images.
