Aren't these the modes it can send through the output socket (HDMI), rather than what it records?

Thing I want to know is how to bracket now the button seems to have gone. And talking of bracketing, why does no one do focus bracketing as well as exposure, etc?

Congratulations to Prieni, a very accomplished shot, and well done to Dr Mhuni for the interesting judge’s comments. Thanks also for the coveted second place .

Maybe this will spur me on to have another go, but with a tripod and more care - probably ruin it completely .

It was an experiment. I stuck the lens from my old ME Super on my K20 to get the wider aperture, set the ISO to Auto over the entire 200 - 3200 range (with the extended dynamic range set on), and went out for a walk for quarter of an hour to see what I came back with. It was late already, I should have been in bed, and I didn't want to mess about with a tripod.

I fully intended to end up with a grainy black and white shot, but I ended up preferring the picture as it came out of the camera. I think our local street lights give a green cast with the auto white balance, but I ended up liking that - it gave it an image intensifier feeling. It's probably just me though...

I’ve a vague intention to go back and shoot it again tonight with the tripod, if it’s not rainy or windy, just out of curiosity.

I thought "only two entries, I'm in with a chance". By the time I'd taken the photo there were eight , so that now makes nine. Not bad for this competition. It's definitely a feature of the fortnightly competition that people wait until the last minute .

Good to see Lilly back entering too.

Congratulations to Prieni for a lovely winner, and Malo1961 for taking the time for some thorough and interesting judging. What I learnt this time is red kites move very quickly, so even 1/2000 won't freeze them. Next time...

This was taken just round the corner from the Lloyds building in the City of London, but I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the market.

Just a quick note as I'm in London for a long weekend. Again lots of good entries and thorough judging. Mine was a piano keyboard, where the black note meets the white.

If I get a chance when I get home I'll post the whole picture.
