It would be useful to enter for the feedback - see if Daniel sees the same things wrong with it as I do. So I might enter it. However, it's still a bit cheeky, isn't it? "I've won, how lovely, now I'm off on holiday, bye!" .

I'll decide later today, so there's time for people to object rather than encourage me to enter. Having seen the high standard (as ever) of the other entries, this is probably getting very hypothetical anyway...

Here's a silly thing. I spent a bit of time at the weekend taking a picture for this competition, and have just uploaded it to flickr so I could enter it. Then it dawned on me I'll be on holiday when judging is next required, if I fluked a win in this one, so I can't enter.

I wish I'd thought of that earlier . Oh well .

Daniel's did put me in mind of a self-portrait shot, so I'm not surprised it was an inspiration. Lots of entries this week, and Darkmunk picked one of my favourites as the winner. I also liked Lilly's, flat4's, Heidi's and Thordell's.

Well done to Daniel, and Darkmunk too for lots of interesting comments.

The intention was to blur the snail by camera movement. It would have looked better, but I couldn't get it right. Instead it was a frantic half an hour using GIMP, which wasn't enough time really .

So, on to the next one .

Sorry to delay the results . I nearly didn't enter, but then had similar thoughts to Father Ted - it all helps me to learn.

K20, f/13, 1/6 sec, 100 ISO, taken 24th June 2009 at 07:30.

I'd originally wanted to take a picture of a live snail, but sadly it wasn't to be. I finally found one when going out one afternoon when I didn't have time to shoot it, then accidently trod on it when arriving home later. They make a horrible sound underfoot. It wasn't wasted though, some bird had the lot a short while later.

So here's plan B to make up the numbers. Not that they need it this fortnight...

I don't think it is a damage issue, just an image degradation problem if the shake reduction is on when using a tripod.

I've not had the problem as whenever I use a tripod I'm using a remote, and the shake reduction is turned off automatically when the remote receive is turned on.

Hope this is coherent, it's been a long day .

Congratulations to the winner, and to Lilly for putting so much effort into the judging.

The "would I hang it on the wall" test is certainly a good one, and I have to admit I'd always known my photo wouldn't pass that test. Still, with a bit more practice I might get there.

Right, on the the next one - Movement.

I always seem to do things at the last minute, but I learnt my lesson this week. I had an idea involving a particularly impressive bit of graffiti near where I live. I went to see what I could do with it and found it wasn’t there anymore. Being the last minute I didn’t have time to find anything else.

Oh well, at least there are quite a few entries this week.

I've always thought this would be easy to implement, and potentially very useful. Hence my comment the other day.

Perhaps one of the manufacturers (hopefully Pentax) will twig eventually and add it in. It could probably be done by software update - I don't think it would be a hardware thing.
