Room for reflections on the night...

Blimey, no response at all - not even a reflection! I'm getting concerned. Surely it's not so difficult to take photos at night?

Someone please post an image soon if only to allay my anxiety!

Keep cool, something will come. I have a fallback option but would like to find something more interesting (to me, at least).

It certainly is easy to take photos at night. It gets more complicated when you want something discernible in the shot.

And sometimes it needs a lot of processing to make a shot. One example:

Phew, good to know some entries are coming. It's just that there'd normally be at least a couple of entries by now.

Nice shot of Hong Kong Ralf - I remember this from a weekly comp. Like you I like to shoot at night - in fact I think some of my favourite shots have been taken after the sun's gone down.

This is my faveroute type of shooting, low light just creats a sence of ambiance for me

On second thought. Why wait : It's ready and I am not able to come up with something better, in the days to come.

Hi all, I didn't know that there is a fortnightly competion, is it open to all? I couldn't see it under the competitions tab along with the weekly comps.

Most definitely open to all.

Only criteria are to comply with the theme, take it specifically for the competition within the designated time frame and use a Pentax camera

The Weekly Competition started off life here in the forum and this one is a relatively new idea.

fantastic shot (as usual). I had something with star trails in mind as one of the options.
Would you tell us more about how it was shot, please?
First thing: For star trails you need long exposure times. I haven't used bulb mode, yet. Is it just a matter of having a cable release hooked up to the camera? Did you do a dark frame subtraction (i.e. waiting another 20 minutes before you could take the next shot)?
1066 seconds at 5.6 and ISO100, it must be very dark for that I guess. And how did you know that 1066 seconds was the right time?

Now the truth is out: I'm a noob at long exposure night shots.

So would you enlighten me? (or should the appropriate term in this case be 'endarken me'?)

Hi Hyram,
I am living on top of the largest underground gas field (mainland) of The Netherlands. This structure is some kind of trigger system to literally burn of over pressure, existing in the gas field below. It can be a really spectacular view with flames, measuring up to 50 metres in span. It totally light's off the whole area. Of course on this occasion, I didn't need that.
