You make it sound so simple - if only that were the case! A wonderfully and, IMHO, cleverly composed shot that leads the eye to the delightful surprise in the form of the white building/ruin in the distance.

I am in awe that you managed to capture the moment. In my opinion, however, there remains scope, if the medium and original allow, for additional PP, particularly with regard to NR and selective levels adjustment and sharpening. Notwithstanding the above suggestion for improvement, it is an image I would be proud to have in my portfolio.

Your beautiful framing and creative use of DOF have produced a wonderful portrait which will have lasting appeal for the photographer/parent/guardian or relative and, no doubt grudgingly and at some distant point in the future, the sitter :D
