The Helios 44 is also available in K mount as the Helios 44k-4 works just like a Pentax 'M' lens- there are quite a few Russian lenses in k mount if you you don't want to go down the m42 route

I use a lot of Russian lenses and find for the price they are very hard to beat. Generally they are very sharp and have excellent colour rendition and are very solidly built. The only downside is occasionally poor quality control so one man's world beater is a lemon- having said that I have never had a bad one . If in doubt try a Helios 44-2 2/58mm they can be got cheap and can give superb results, others I would recommend are the Jupiter 37A 135mm, its a close relative to the Carl Zeiss Sonnar and the Mir-24 2/35mm which makes for good standard lens on a Pentax dslr

There are adapters available which have an inner flange that engages the pin and pushes it up turning the lens into a pre set. I have one but they can be expensive, try looking for a post on MFlenses forum, there is a guy called Alex (hk300) that sells good quality but cheap adapters like this from Hong Kong that still go to infinity. Otherwise what Hefty1 says is fine I've done ti myself its relatively easy and reversible

I use the beeping focus confirmation on my Samsung GX 10, works well and the noise helps in low light but on my Pentax K100 I put in a cheap ebay split focusing screen which did the job ok

Russian Mirror lenses are usually very high quality, they invented them, Rubinars 500/6.3, 500/8 can be got for reasonable prices on ebay, there are also MTO 500 and 1000. I own a 3M-5A 500/8 and have had some good results from it

To be honest I have seen them go for up to £100, purely for the adapter, on ebay, the Tamron lens for up to £20 with no adapter. I have a generic PK adapter for my 70-210, 35-70 and 28mm lenses, but it would be nice to get the full use of them as I use them with m42 and C/Y cameras already. I was hoping to pay about £30-40 so my advice would be to stick it on ebay you should get good money for the two.

I bought a cheap generic remote from China for my K100d and Samsung GX-10 for about £3, works perfectly, even used it to fire the K100 when I had it attached to my Zenit Photsniper and lens
