An interesting juxtaposition there David. Either old vs new or East Coast vs West Coast. Your luck was in to catch her just in time before the 'elecky' crossed in front of you. Perhaps you were lucky again because she failed at Ferryhill on the return with a 'hot box' (loss of bearing lubricant) on one of the tender axles. A class 37 diesel took over from there, 90 minutes late.

Good work to get four bridges in view but exceptional to get trains (well T&W Metro) on half of them and so well placed. Did you have to wait for long to achieve that? I take it you were looking South to North with the King Edward bridge nearest?

Nicely spotted and captured Andrew in the tranquil looking location. The slight negative for me though, is the presence of the road-sign.

That was a well timed shot to get the upward exhaust plus the billowing clouds under the bridge. I like the pattern made by the point-work too.

Puts me in mind of the Thomas the Tank Engine stories, where two engines have a hard job coming and have to work together to succeed. I like the crop and the steam.

Excellent choice of viewpoint and composition, well timed to catch a good display from the locomotive.
