Morning Roger. Yes it's been both, but I've had enough of doing the moons, I'll keep trying occationally to see if I can get some surface detail, You never know it may be I just need what astronomers call good seeing. The sky seemed cvlear enogh last night, and the stars were shap enough visibly. I'm hoping to get to a star party locally on 1st November, perhaps I'll get some hints there! ...

Hi Roger I've managed roughly similar to this with the 600 mirror, my ancient 300 f4, and my 3" refractor (100-4000mm f16-f64). In ~110 shots of Jupiter this month. Also a similar number of moon shots, and a handful of Mars (which was visible just as I was giving up) Whatever the exposure NONE show any surface features. With the 5" newtonian I couldn't get anything focused in the camera ...

I find the background red a little overpowering, but the fly itself is stunning! Mike
