I ordered my K20d earlier this week and the money still hasn't left my account so i'm guessing SRS still haven't received them...

I'm like a wee laddie waiting on santa coming, except they keep moving christmas to the next day!

I don't want to keep calling and pestering the folks at SRS, but i just want to play with my new toy.

Can anyone recommend a lightweight tripod that collapses down to a nice compact size. I'm not bothered if it's not quite as tall as the others at full height, but i need to be able to carry it in/on my backpack when out on the bike/skis.

good tip Don. i'll look into it. I think my brother has one that he uses to take his canon g9 kayaking with him.

I've just been recommended the Dakine Sequence pack on the ski forum i use.

looks ideal and i'll probably go with that one as it's got ski carrying ability as well!

Having just bought a K20d i'm looking forward to being able to take it out on the hills with me. This will be skiing and mountain biking. I won't take it all the time as i'd be scared of damaging it or it just being too big and get in the way, but i'll no doubt take it on certain days when the weather looks good and i'll be able to hold myself back a bit knowing that i've got my slr with me...

so, i'm after a camera bag that would be easy to access when on the slopes/trails - it would be good if i didn't have to keep taking it off my back completely to get to the camera. And waterproofness is a must.

Any recommendations out there?

Hi everyone, first post here (well, 2nd after my into) and i've got to agree with all that has been said above.

I spent ages looking for my first plunge into the DSLR market (i've been using bridge cameras for ages) and i couldn't understand the fuss with the canon and especially the sony range. They just feel cheap and plastic and have the poorest viewfinders of the whole lot. The cheapest Canon i held that i though was a quality piece of kit was the 40d. Nikon & Pentax build quality seemed a level above the rest in that regard. I then managed to handle a K-m and it felt much more substantial and after reading and reading and reading about the K20d, i ordered one this morning and will quietly sit here and await delivery - tomorrow is too far away!
