If you look closely, Malcolm, the background IS blurred and so is the very near foreground. What is different from the previous shot is the dramatic change from blur to focus at the subject. Looking at the Exif data for both the main difference is the zoom factor - this one says 260mm vs 160 on the other. Whether that makes 'a haporth of difference' perhaps someone more technically skilled t ...

I can understand what you were aiming for, Nigel, but IMHO (and ir is just my personal likes/dislikes) I feel that the very slow shutter speed has made the water look like cotton wool :? As I said, it is a personal thing but I prefer the effect from using 1/20 sec as Gabby has in the next image. To me that gives the water a more lifelike appearance :? Looks just like my back garden (some hope !) I think what I mean is that this area has less 'Formal' appearance than the other views ? The colour rendering of these 'out in the open' shots is fine and they don't show the 'yellowness' of the woodland area shots you posted on the Forum thread. Nice set Peter

I haven't got a clue of what processing you've used but it works. Great shot! Paul, 1/. Quick selection tool 2/.Image > adjustments > black & white. 3/. Filter > guasian blur. Thats all. To misquote "I don't know much about PP, but I do know what I like !" Great work Larry :D Best regards Peter
