At least it remains a UK company, and hopefully will pay UK taxes, unlike certain others........

Shame it is not back on the high street with "proper" togs running them.
But here's hoping......

That is exactly the look I am wanting, but the Sigma is wanting.....
Thanks Mille, you have made my mind up.

I think with the 300 I will enjoy taking nature again and not worry about the results.

Thanks!

Just spotted this, I too might be interested in it.
I have friends in Market Harborough, so might do a double. Theirs at the weekend, and the farm on Sunday. Is it far from Harborough?

I am erring towards the 300mm as an effective replacement for my siggy 170-500mm. The 60-250 is more flexible, and would be used for my event work, but then again I have done well with the 50-135mm so why have an addition for that extra reach.
Then again as Mille has said, the 60-250 is faster to AF, but the 300mm is sharp from wide open, which is something that is lacking on the siggy.

I think that the 300mm is the one in the end. It won't be used much, but such is the only good performance of the siggy against great, I might use it a lot more as I will have pleasure in using it in the first place.

Chris@SRS might just get an e-mail tomorrow.......

But which to choose?

Plus points:-
DA*300mm
A Prime
Metal body
If Pentax finally bring out the 1.4x converter it would become a 420mm F5.6

DA*60-250mm
More flexible, so would be used more

Negatives
DA*300mm
Fixed focal length

DA*60-250mm
I already have the 50-135mm so the 60-135 range is covered and then some!
That extra 50mm of the 300mm would be useful.

Errrrrrr HELP!

I don't mind carrying the gear suggested in my bag, its not that heavy, and I have walked around other cities with a similar amount of kit. Oh I have a compact - my LX-5 which will be going too.

It is the one big advantage of Pentax, cracking image quality with small lenses. Only really M43 and Leica can match it, and M43 iq is not as good IMHO.

These suggestions are great guys.
The open top bus is a cert, especially when going through Time Square in early evening. USS Intrepid is a cert too.

Keep it up guys, I am compiling a list.

Oh, one place I will go to is Highline Park. It is the former elevated railway from Meatpacking district to Penn Station. It is a must for me with great views of the west side.

Not going next week I am afraid. It is more likely to be the end of April. Or failing that - October. Why? I am in Amsterdam in May and Paris in June.
Still, they are good choices to add to the list. I am collating a list of must see's when I am there.

As for lenses. Looking on Flickr, it seems that wide to medium tele are the ones to take. As my sling can take a lot, I am initially thinking of the following that I have
Sigma 10-20
21mm Limited
28mm SMC-F
35mm SMC-DA
40mm Limited
50mm F1.7 and F1.4 (one AF and one contrasty wide open)
55mm F1.8, yes I know, but why not......
50-135mm
Plus the K20D as backup body.

However it is early days, and this could change......
