There are a few Pentax groups which have some great photos and ideas, and the local groups are good to watch for ideas on new locations to go and take photos.

I use the Sony GPS-CS1 with my K10 and it works a treat. It takes a single AA battery which should last a day out and about if you use good ones, it clips on to my bag and I just forget about it till I get home. I then use an application by Breeze Systems called Downloader Pro, this will match the times of the photos to the GPS log and add the location to the EXIF info, its also good app to get your photos off memory cards/cameras and store them in an organised way on your PC.

I used this on this years holiday to the US and it was great to get back and see exactly where a photo was taken.

Not as cheap as reusing some old hardware or the Freecom drive but it has a "SAFE mode" which mirrors data on both disk (Raid 1). I’ve had mine for a couple of weeks, it’s easy to setup, looks good on the desk and so far no complaints.

Well here are my first few photos with my new DA* 16-50.. I’m afraid there isn’t anything of any great artistic merit so please don’t be too harsh.

(To view the large images you will have to be a Flickr member.)

I have not done any manipulation to these images other than minor adjustments to exposure etc and a couple of greyscale conversions in Adobe Lightroom.

So far I’m impressed with the lens, it’s much sharper than the lens it replaces (Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 ), it’s a lot faster to focus and it is so quiet.

I have been looking for this lens for a wee while now as well, I was hoping to get one before the end of August but I am starting to think this isn’t going to happen, does anyone know if they are a due soon or is there an alternative solution anyone can recommend.

Cheers

A fun accessory, certainly one I would buy would be a gps device that can put the gps info into the EXIF. I know Sony do one, and that would be great to have. Maybe Pentax could build one in to the new model
I believe that the Sony GPS logger will work with any camera, as I dont have one I cant confirm.

Cheers George, that was good enough for me.. I'm now a proud owner of a *isd DL.. Not had much of a chance to take photos, just a quick outing on Sunday but it was getting dark and cold (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nyami/sets/1508257/). So far I'm impressed with the ease of use and quality of picture. I just love the fact that you can snap aware without the worry of 'wasting' film. I will no doubt be back for more assistance and advice.

Cheers
