While browsing the forum the question of oily blades crops up, so I decided to have a look at my Super Tak 135mm and hey pesto "oily blades" plain to see, it seems 3 blades appear to show signs. Now my recent pics from the weekend all appear fine, sharp, coloured as normal, so how are these oily blades detrimental to the condition of the lens/pictures?
Kind regards

I do like this one, I'm very fond of well executed room shots, I always feel like you've got a snap shot of time with past stories to tell. Well executed with good DOF, which aperture did you use by the way?

There is no key on the Genuine M42 to PK adapter - that's something the non-genuine ones need.
IIRC you put the adapter on the body - it clicks into place and voila. To take it off, you use a pen / anything small to pull the metal lever forward and it spins off.

This is what I can't fathom. I regularly see superb photos taken with Takumar lenses here, although my experiences haven't been so successful (my Super Tak 35mm and genuine Pentax adapter wouldn't meter properly on my K-m, it was underexposing all the time in Av mode with the lens set to manual). I know that's a peculiarity of that specific lens rather than a fault with the glass though as the lens is fine when eyeballed and the camera works perfectly with K mount lenses.
I have a K 55mm, 120mm and 85-210mm zoom which are all impeccably behaved on digital, and the K series are pretty much straight copies of the final Takumars with the new mount grafted on. Pentax evidently cared enough about their users to make the extra effort to enable us to use the older glass, which puts super-sharp primes in the hands of anyone willing to learn how to use them.
The reason I use manual primes is mainly down to cost as the IQ I strive to achieve is not available in my price bracket from a cheap zoom.

I find a Tesco's carrier bag ideal, readily available, waterproof, cheap and nobody thinks I've got anything of worth in it so they don't try to my stuff, but I do find it cuts into my fingers after a bit.

That sounds like one of those mythical 'secondhand shop wonder deals' which eBay was supposed to have killed off for good. How come I never find any of these in the studenty (hence lots of charity shops) part of Glasgow?

I'm after the key for fitting a genuine M42 to PK adapter to the body, by all intents and purpose a bent bit of tin with blades on it, I'm struggling to tighten it up with my fingers and your cannot fit the adapter if you screw it to the lenses first.
Kind regards

I hope you don't mind, I couldn't resist having a play. I was going for the 6x6 TLR sort of look. If you want me to delete it, just say.
Best wishes, Kris.

No your more than welcome to have a play, it just so happens I'd crop it to left myself to keep the shadow but I was unsure so I left it central. But I do like the your crop.
Thanks for the comments much appreciated .

I must admit it meters very well and fingers crossed up till now I'm not suffering from over exposure, apart from human error of course. Next question, is it easily rectified or shall I just leave as is?
Kind regards
