I did watch a program a few years back when 3 photographers were invited to go out and take pictures, one with a camera phone, one with a compact and one with the DSLR, what surpised me was yes they were reluctant to accept the compact and phone cameras but none the less they preceded to use the equipment given them and take some stunning pictures. I find sometimes photography mirrors Golf in the sense that the fortunate few precede to buy the best clubs available but couldn't hit a cabbage in front of them.

Hi Pauly

Love the image, this is right up my street, and the vapour trail in my opinion adds to the image.

Sorry, but a Rusty Nail is not Scottish

Mixing Scotch with Drambuie is just a waste, and was probably thought up by some 'Lowlander' that couldn't appreciate a good whisky.
Is he the brother of "Dumpys Rusty Nuts"?

regards, tim.
Hi Tim

I used my previous Tamron 70-300mm Di LD at 105mm, which I've just sold as I never really got on with it, nothing wrong, a fine lens but I prefer manual primes.

Manx Norton on full chat at Mallory, sounded glorious and he wasn't hanging around either.

Don't you have to enable use of aperture ring or something?

Mike
Sorry Mike I'd forgot about that one, yes before all of the above you need to do the following in the menu:

Scroll across to Custom Settings
Scroll down to 23. "Using Aperture Ring" and set to No. 2 "Permitted"

Job done you can now use manual lenses.

I own a K200D and use the M series lenses all the time, so if it reads like this you're on the right track:

Switch function dial to M
Switch to MF on the front of the body
Switch SR on
Turn on
Input focal lenght of the lens in the menu, click OK
Menu screen tells you're in maual mode
Set aperture on lens
Focus
Press little green button on top of the body which sets shutter speed
Then press shutter and BOOM perfectly exposed pictures everytime(well not always, but hey ho)

I do find the M series lenses to tend to produce very consistent results at stop down metering.

Hope this helps.
