First thing that I think of is the shutterspeed. It may not be fast enough if you do not have the right amount of light - hence the scene will be blurred by the motion and the picture will show horses that have crossed the line.

I recon you need extremely fast shutterspeed to freeze the action on the finish line. I guess you will need shutterspeed as fast as 1/500 - 1/1000 if not faster. That means loads of light - and that could be a problem.

What is the normal exposure you are using?

Is it possible to use flash in any way? That might help to freeze the action.

I like the PP of the first one but the composition is not good imo.

Good subject. We will see if we can come up with some new shots this time. I think it was JR who took the crown last time link

It is just better, cost less and looks good!

And.....even depressing reviews states the K20D is better than canons new flagship

"EOS 50D and Pentax K20D offer nearly identical nominal resolution and after taking the in-camera processing out of the equation by shooting RAW there is not an awful lot between them. Having said that the Pentax image shows just a tad more detail, especially in crops close to the edge of the frame (coins on label, batteries). It becomes obvious that at 15.1 megapixels nominal resolution the 50D is limited by the performance of the lens while the Pentax prime lens is still capable of resolving the K20D's 14.6 megapixels."

The 50D only had the Highly Recommended (Just). That is the second time I see that - last time it was the K10D

Pentax moved up - Canon down.....(never thaught that Depressingreviews would come to that conclusion)

You seem to spend your spare time very good. A nice set. I like # 2 and 3 the best.

a fine shot to enter with. Good use of the DOF but perhaps a bit to dark in the head. I find it hard to focus on the eyes - which should be the focuspoint in my view.

It is a hard shot with light and dark areas. The sun/shadows did not help you

Is it a zoo shot or wildlife?

Welcome!

Hmm - A funny look. A bit too bright in the background when you compare it to the top/sky.

If you by a selective mask could bunr/curve the background a bit - It might help.

But curves/levels are a very strong tool for PP.

Keep trying. It is a very new world

Welcome Stefan.

Nice introduction you made. Good to see you online here as well in the competition area. You will love it here and you will always want that other lens. It is a commen habit amongst photographers - called LBA!!!

First adn last are the ones that works best for me.

The last one is nice - perhaps you need to work a bit on the background. Try to get it smoother.

The first one - I like as it is. Very dreamlike.
